At Football Park, we love the EFL. So I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing you betting tips for League One fixtures.
I’m taking a look at Saturday's game where Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough host Ruben Selles’ Reading.
Both sides will be pretty happy with the way they’ve started this campaign, they’ll both feel they have an outside chance at securing a play-off spot.
Peterborough United Predicted Line-up - Nicholas Bilokapic; James Dornelly, Oscar Wallin, Emmanuel Fernandez, Jack Sparkes; Archie Collins, Ryan De Havilland; Kwame Poku, Joel Randall, Mailk Mothersille; Ricky-Jade Jones
Unsurprisingly, we’d expect the hosts to stick with an unchanged lineup following their 6-1 dismantling of local rivals Cambridge.
Kwame Poku continued to impress against the U’s, bagging a hattrick, and he’ll be turning heads of Championship clubs I’m sure.
That being said, the hosts can be leaky at the back, so an off day in front of goal could present an issue.
Reading Predicted Line-up - Joel Pereira; Michael Craig, Amadou Salif Mbengue, Tyler Bindon, Jeriel Dorsett; Ben Elliott, Lewis Wing, Charlie Savage; Harvey Knibbs, Mamadi Camara, Sam Smith
For all their ownership issues, Ruben Selles is doing an excellent job with the Reading side at his disposal.
They’ve tightened up at the back in recent weeks, despite an average age of 23.4 last time out, they look full of experience.
Credit to Mbengue, who’s an assured figure at this level.
These sides have faced each other 11 times since 2009. Among them, Peterborough have won four, and Reading have won five.
Two matches have resulted in a draw.
26th December 2023 - Peterborough 2-2 Reading - League One
5th August 2023 - Reading 0-1 Peterborough - League One
16th February 2022 - Peterborough 0-0 Reading - Championship
14th September 2021 - Reading 3-1 Peterborough - Championship
Despite Peterborough’s free flowing attacking performance, I think they might be let down by the goals they leak.
Reading should be able to prevent them from scoring too many, especially given how well they’ve sured things up recently.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Draw, backed up by our research.
Odds of 3/1 on PariMatch mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £40 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Peterborough United 2-2 Reading
An exciting game is right ahead of us, and I think it’ll end level.
Later that day, Manchester City face Tottenham Hotspur.
