We’re taking a dip into the Scottish Championship, to bring you the best tips and predictions from the Scottish second division.
Neil Collins’ Raith Rovers host Scott Brown’s Ayr United.
Both sides have had contrasting starts to the Scottish Championship seasons, with Ayr competing for promotion in third place, whilst Raith sit in seventh just two points from the relegation play-offs.
Raith Rovers Predicted Line-up - Kevin Dabrowski; Fankaty Dabo, Calum Fordyce, Paul Hanlon, Lewis Stevenson; Shaun Byrne, Scott Brown; Dylan Easton, Sam Stanton, Finlay Pollock; Jack Hamilton
Raith Rovers have not performed to the standards expected this season, facing a possibility of relegation, when promotion would’ve been the ideal goal.
They did win their last game out against Airdrieonians, and have been growing in momentum in recent weeks, but all in all it’s not been the start they’d be wishing for.
Jack Hamilton has been key this season, the 24 year old will be looking to add to his goal tally of three.
Ayr United Predicted Line-up - Liam Russell; Frankie Musonda, Scott McCann, George Stanger, Dylan Watret; Marco Rus, Ben Dempsey, Mark McKenzie, Jay Henderson; Connor McLennan, George Oakley
Ayr United have been fantastic this season, they sit in the promotion play-off spots, just five points off first.
They also bested Airdrieonians in their last game, similarly to their upcoming opponents.
Given Anton Dowds isn’t available for selection, George Oakley will need to step up and be the main goal threat.
These two sides have faced each other 38 times since 2006. Raith Rovers have won 12 games, and Ayr United have won 15.
11 matches have resulted in a draw.

22th December 2023 - Raith 4-4 Ayr - Scottish Championship
30th September 2023 - Ayr 1-2 Raith - Scottish Championship
Whilst the sides have been fairly even in their historical meetings, Ayr have slightly edged the head to head record.
The same can’t be said for the two sides' league performances this year, with Ayr clearly putting up better performances over the course of this season.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Ayr United to win, backed up by our research.
