RB Leipzig vs Werder Bremen Prediction:

After the German Winter break, Bundesliga football is back. The close nature of the German Bundesliga has left just four points separating 10th and 3rd in the table. The battle for European football is a fight that both RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen are a part of, with Leipzig 4th with 27 points, and Bremen 7th with 25. Leipzig currently have European football to balance their league schedule with, whereas Bremen do not. Both sides are also in the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal and will look to reach the latter stages next month.

RB Leipzig vs Werder Bremen Previews, Form and Players to Watch:

Despite being lower in the league table, Bremen should travel to Leipzig with genuine hopes of getting a result. One of the most well-oiled teams in Germany RB Leipzig will be a tough opponent and often only lose by being outscored, so plenty of goals can be expected. Both sides will also be desperate for a win as it will really benefit them in the Champions League chase.

RB Leipzig Preview:

Line Up (4-4-2): Peter Gulacsi, Nicols Seiwald, Willi Orban, Lutsharel Geertruida, Antonio Nusa, Christoph Baumgratner, Arthur Vermeeren, Xaver Schlager, Xavi Simons, Benjamin Sesko, Luis Openda

A win for the home side this weekend could take them above Frankfurt and into 3rd, edging them closer to the top two. Recently beating Czech third-tier team FK Banik Most-Sous 10-0 in a friendly, which saw the likes of Xavi Simons and David Raum return to action and getting amongst the goals. It has been a disappointing season for Die Rotten Bullen, losing all six of their Champions League games, meaning they are likely to crash out of to tournament before the knockout stage. An early title challenge also looks to be off the cards as well, with Bayern Munich 9 points clear of them.

Leipzig are also lucky enough to have one of the deadliest strike partnerships in Europe, the classic small and pacey forward combined with the big and powerful. Openda and Sesko collectively have 32 goal contributions combined in all competitions and we are only in January. Therefore they will always be players to look out for, as one is likely to be involved in a goal, especially if the game is set to be high-scoring. Xavi Simons is also back, meaning their front three is as threatening as can be.

Werder Bremen Preview:

Line Up (3-5-2): Michael Zetterer, Niklas Stark, Marco Friedl, Anthony Jung, Derrick Kohn, Mitchell Weiser, Senne Lynen, Jens Stage, Romano Schmid, Marco Grull, Marvin Ducksch

If Werder Bremen are successful in beating Leipzig they will go above the East German club and potentially into a Champions League spot, impressive for a team that has only been back in the top flight for two and a half seasons. After placing 13th and 9th, Bremen are looking to push back into a European spot for the first time since 2011 after the club were regular competitors in the 2000s.

We could potentially see Issa Kabore’s debut after his loan transfer was confirmed in early January. The Manchester City youngster spent last season on loan at Luton Town and spent the first half of this season at Benfica, where he made just 6 appearances. Like Leipzig Bremen also have a striker pairing up top in Grull and Ducksch, but the star player this season has been midfielder Stage who has 7 goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances, including 3 in his last 4. He will look to keep his scoring from midfield up this weekend.

Betting Tips for RB Leipzig vs Werder Bremen:

Despite their strong form, it is hard to overlook the fact that Bremen don’t beat Leipzig a lot, and have no wins against any of the sides in the top 4 this season. It will be close though as they are successful away, and a team that scores goals. An interesting tie that will bring plenty of goals, it could end up as a goalscoring draw, but if Leipzig turn up on the day, they can win.

For that reason, our betting experts have gone with RB Leipzig + Both Teams to Score as the best value bet for this fixture.

Odds of 9/5 mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £28.50 in this match.
