Gent will make the journey to Spain with all the odds against them as they currently trail 3-0 from the first leg against Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League. Picking up back to back 3-0 victories, Betis are displaying brilliant goalscoring form and are sure to cruise into the knockout stages. Coming off the back of a three goal win themselves, Gent will need to take risks if they want any chance at ensuring their passage into the next stage of the campaign.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been in fine form since in their recent matches. Off the back of destroying Gent 3-0, they returned to league action in which they also managed a 3-0 victory this time over 11th place Real Sociedad. Finishing the league stage of the competition down in 15th place, Betis struggled with scoring goals as they were ranked second for least goals out of the 24 teams that qualified.
Gent almost mirrored their opponents in terms of European form, finishing one point and two places behind their counterpart. After missing out on the Championship round last season, they currently sit in sixth place and are unbeaten in their last six Pro League matches.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Vieites; Perraud, Natan, Bartra, Sabaly; Cardoso, Altimira; Ezzalzouli, Avila, Antony; Bakambu
Unfortunately for Betis, star midfielder Giovani Lo Celso picked up an ankle injury in their win over Real Sociedad and will in turn have to watch this match from the stands. The Argentine is the top scorer for the club, collecting seven goals so far from 16 matches in the La Liga this season.
One player who starred in the first leg was the newly-acquired Brazilian winger Antony. Coming on loan from Manchester United, Antony has been a fan favourite, performing at a heightened quality that he showed in England which has seen him pick up three MOTM performances.
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Predicted Line-Up: Roef; Torunarigha, Watanabe, Mitrovic; Brown, Lopes, Ito, Samoise; Kums; Vanzier, Gudjohnsen
Gent have a huge mountain to climb and will be hoping a miracle will happen for them. They did well to claw back from behind in their last game wining 3-2 against Beerschot. One stat that really does not help their case is their away record has been atrocious with only one away win from their last fourteen away matches.
The first leg of this tournament was the first time in which these two teams have faced off against each other with Real Betis emerging victorious with a 3-0 win.
With Gent needing a win and a high scoring one, the Belgian side may open themselves up and Betis will certainly take advantage.
For this reason, our betting experts suggest Over 3.5 goals as the best value tip for this match. With odds at 7/4, a bet of £10 could see a return of up to £27.50
