Real Valladolid

Real Valladolid are back in La Liga after a year as they managed to get themselves automatically promoted by finishing second in La Liga 2 last season. They finished that season with 72 points, just two points behind title winners Leganés. With a record of 21 wins, 12 losses and 9 draws, Valladolid will hope they can continue their good form to achieving survival in La Liga this coming season.

Valladolid had four pre-season games to try and help them get prepared for the upcoming domestic campaign. In those games, they had varied results having won twice, lost once and drew once. The most impressive result was a 4-1 home win against Pau. Their home form is one to be proud of a across all competitions, Real Valladolid are unbeaten in 11 home games. Espanyol

Likewise to Valladolid, Espanyol are back in La Liga after a year’s absence as they were promoted at the end of the season. They finished in fourth place with a record of 17 wins, 7 losses and 18 draws with a final tally of 69 points. As they didn’t finish in the top two places it meant that they had to try and earn promotion through the La Liga 2 Playoffs, something that they did achieve, beating Real Oviedo 2-0 in the Final.

Pre-season was hit and miss for Espanyol as across the four games they played they won once, lost once and drew twice. It might seem lacklustre on the outside but a goalless draw with Girona was impressive. Girona finished third in La Liga last season and to be able to hold out against the quality of squad they have is a good indicator of how well Espanyol could do this season.
