After the first two games of the new Europa League format, both Roma and Dynamo Kyiv are below where they would like to be. Roma are currently sat on one point in 27th place, while Dynamo Kyiv are second from bottom on no points.
Roma’s form is definitively mid-table at the moment. In their last five, they have won two, drawn two and lost one. Their season started poorly, but since they brought in Ivan Juric as their new manager, the form hasn’t been all bad.
Meanwhile, Dynamo Kyiv are dominating their domestic league as they usually do, but are struggling to turn their league form into a European campaign to be proud of.
Roma Predicted Lineup - Mile Svilar; Angelino, Evan Ndicka, Gianluca Mancini; Nicola Zalewski, Bryan Cristante, Manu Kone, Mehmet Zeki Celik; Lorenzo Pellegrini, Matias Soule; Artem Dovbyk
It is likely that Stephan El Shaarawy will still be missing in this match after he missed last weekend’s game against Inter. Nicola Zalewski was his replacement in that game, and he will probably play again in this match.
Artem Dovbyk is the only Roma player to score in Europe this season, so he will be the main man for them in this match although Paulo Dybala will also be a threat in that number 10 position behind him.
Dynamo Kyiv Predicted Lineup - Georgiy Bushchan; Vladyslav Dubinchak, Taras Mykhavko, Denys Popov, Oleksandr Tymchyk; Mykola Shaparenko, Volodymyr Brazhko; Vladyslav Kabayev, Vitaliy Buyalskyi, Oleksandr Karavayev, Vladyslav Vanat
Dynamo Kyiv have very few injury concerns coming into this match and could start with an unchanged XI from their match this weekend. Their form is excellent right now, and so manager Oleksandr Shovkovskiy will want to change as little as possible
22-year-old forward Vladyslav Vanat managed to score twice in their last league game so he will be a big threat for the Roma backline. With that being said however, Dynamo Kyiv are yet to register a goal in the Europa League so far this season.
The clubs have met on four different occasions since 2000, all before 2007. In 2004, Dynamo Kyiv won both of their meetings, but three years later, Roma won both of the games. In the game in Rome in 2004, the game was abandoned after the referee was hit on the head by an object thrown from the crowd. Dynamo Kyiv were awarded a 3-0 win.
27th Nov 2007 - Dynamo Kyiv 1-4 Roma - UEFA Champions League
19th Sep 2007 - Roma 2-0 Dynamo Kyiv - UEFA Champions League
23rd Nov 2004 - Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 Roma - UEFA Champions League
15th Sep 2004 - Roma 0-3 Dynamo Kyiv (Match Abandoned) - UEFA Champions League
Only one point currently separates the two teams in the Europa League table, however there is a gulf in quality between the two sides on paper. Roma’s squad is filled with star quality, while Dynamo Kyiv’s isn’t. Their team may be good for their domestic league, but when it is compared to those across Europe, it falls short.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for Roma to Win to Nil. Odds of 8/5 on Parimatch means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £26.
(odds subject to change)
Roma 2-0 Dynamo Kyiv
Elsewhere in the Europa League, Manchester United travel to Fenerbahce.
