Celtic will be looking to keep up their 100% record in the Scottish Premiership after they were battered in the Champions League in midweek. Ross County are their hosts this weekend, and while they are in mid-table right now, a few bad results, and things could start to look rather worrying for them.
Key Stats
Ross County have picked up a little bit of form recently, but not to the extent of Celtic. European games aside, Celtic have had the most perfect start to a league campaign possible.
Their European adventures so far this season have been mixed, but their 7-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund this week must have hurt them somewhat. Ross County will be hoping that the team is still recovering from the battering and will be there for the taking.
Ross County Predicted Lineup - Ross Laidlaw; Ryan Leak, Kacper Lopata, Akil Wright; Elijah Campbell, Josh Nisbet, Connor Randall, Michee Efete; Noah Chilvers; Ronan Hale, Jordan White
Ross County drew last time out against bottom side Hearts away from home. They were leading for much of the game thanks to a first half goal from Ronan Hale, but Lawrence Shankland equalised in extra time at the end of the game to earn Hearts’ second point of the campaign.
Centre-back Akil Wright, who joined from Stockport County in the summer, has been impressive so far this campaign. Not only has he played every minute in the league, but he is also the club’s second highest goalscorer, with two goals. Only Hale has scored more for Ross County in the league.
Celtic Predicted Lineup - Kasper Schmeichel; Greg Taylor, Liam Scales, Auston Trusty, Alistair Johnston; Paulo Bernardo, Callum McGregor, Arne Engels; Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn
Celtic have a mix of youth and experience in their side. Following their 7-1 thrashing by Dortmund in midweek, they have now new injury concerns, so can put their full attention on this game. Having not conceded a goal in the league this season, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if Brendan Rodgers put out the team that won their last league game 6-0 against St. Johnstone.
Callum McGregor has been the player to watch for Celtic this season. With four league goals, he is second in the standings currently, behind Pape Habib Gueye of Aberdeen with five.
Celtic are historically one of the most dominant teams in Scotland, so it comes as no surprise that they have the better of the head to head record against Ross County. The last time this weekend’s hosts managed to beat Celtic was in the 2020/21 season, when they won 1-0. In recent years however, it has been too easy for Celtic.
27th Jan 2024 - Celtic 1-0 Ross County - Scottish Premiership
4th Nov 2023 - Ross County 0-3 Celtic- Scottish Premiership
5th Aug 2023 - Celtic 4-2 Ross County - Scottish Premiership
2nd Apr 2023 - Ross County 0-2 Celtic - Scottish Premiership
12th Nov 2022 - Celtic 2-1 Ross County - Scottish Premiership
If Celtic are to lose their 100% record and their perfect clean sheet record in the league this season, it will be to the likes of Rangers or Aberdeen. Ross County have done well to earn a number of draws this season, but they aren’t about to cause an upset here.
Celtic are the strongest team in Scotland, and over recent years it has looked as if they are miles ahead of anyone else. This year Aberdeen have started well, but it would take something miraculous to stop Celtic right now.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for Celtic to Win to Nil. This is Evens on PariMatch which means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £20.
