The Scottish Premiership is starting to take shape now after nine games, however one outlier is how poorly Hibernian have done so far this season. After nine games, they are rock bottom on just six points, however they have a game in hand on the two teams above them. They travel to Ross County this week who themselves started the season strongly before falling off slightly.
Ross County managed to beat Kilmarnock last time out, but that was their first win since the 14th September. In that run, they failed to score against St Johnstone who have the joint worst defensive record in the league this season.
Hibernian are beginning to react to their dreadful start to the season. Since their first point of the season back in August, the side have always been in games that they haven’t won, either earning a draw, or losing by just one goal. They will think that they can get a result here, but Ross County won’t make it easy for them.
Ross County Predicted Lineup - Ross Laidlaw; Ryan Leak, Kacper Lopata, Akil Wright; Josh Reid, Connor Randall, Aidan Denholm, James Brown; Noah Chilvers; Ronan Hale, Jordan White
Having returned to winning ways at the weekend, it is likely that Ross County boss Don Cowie will keep most of the players the same for this game. County were helped out by a Kilmarnock red card at the weekend, as both of their goals came after their opponents were reduced to 10 men and one of them was an own goal.
Despite blanking against Kilmarnock, Ronan Hale is still Ross County’s top scorer this season, with four goals in the league and seven in all competitions. He will be the main man for County as they look for the back of the net against Hibernian.
Hibernian Predicted Lineup - Josef John Bursik; Jordan Obita, Warren O’Hora, Marvin Ekpiteta, Lewis Miller; Nectarios Triantis, Kwon Hyeok-kyu; Elie Youan, Junior Hoilett, Martin Boyle; Dwight Gayle
After scoring Hibernian’s only goal against Hearts in their 1-1, Mykola Kukharevych might get a chance in the starting XI this week, however it is unlikely that David Grey will want to make too many changes to a squad that managed to get a draw considering their form this season.
Kukharevych has made a habit of scoring from midfield this season, with three goals in all competitions. He is just two behind winger Martin Boyle, who has five goals and five assists too. Former EFL ballers Junior Hoilett and Dwight Gayle will most likely retain their positions in the starting XI as well.
The recent results between the two sides have been incredibly even. Throughout history, Hibernian just have the edge, but looking at the five most recent meetings, that is not evident. Ross County have managed to close the gap between the two sides so that now they are very well matched.
4th May 2024 - Ross County 2-1 Hibernian - Scottish Premiership
13th Mar 2024 - Ross County 2-2 Hibernian - Scottish Premiership
2nd Mar 2024 - Hibernian 2-0 Ross County - Scottish Premiership
31st Oct 2023 - Hibernian 2-2 Ross County - Scottish Premiership
31st Jan 2023 - Ross County 1-1 Hibernian - Scottish Premiership
Over recent years, the most common result between these two sides has been a draw. Hibernian, while they might not be in the best spot right now do have the quality and belief to get a result here.
Ross County have done quite well this season however their form is patchy and they do leak a lot of goals. Hibernian don’t score many, but with County’s defensive frailties, they could turn that around.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for Draw and BTTS. Odds of 15/4 on Parimatch means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £47.50..
