Cambridge United will face a tough trip north in an attempt to gain a second away win of the season. After a rare fifth win of the season last time out against Mansfield, Cambridge United remain six points inside of the relegation zone. That home win saw the U’s pick up a win for the first time in eight league games. After facing relegation from the Championship last season, Rotherham United will have hoped for a swift return to the second tier. However, currently sat in 13th place, they find themselves eight points outside the playoffs.
Rotherham will be disappointed that they seemingly will not bounce back to the Championship on first attempt like they often have previously. Unlike fellow relegated sides Birmingham and Huddersfield, they currently languish away from the promotion picture. However, their recent form has seen them lose just one of their last six. Before defeat to Burton Albion last weekend the Millers were on an unbeaten streak of five.
Predicted Line Up (4-3-1-2): Dillon Phillips, Joe Rafferty, Hakeem Odofin, Zak Jules, Reece James, Joe Powell, Alex MacDonald, Cameron Humphreys, Louie Sibley, Andre Green, Mallik Wilks
Andre Green and Mallik Wilks could be Steve Evans’ go-to forward pairing as Wilks has two goals in his last three league games, and Green has two in his last two. Both individuals have seven goal contributions in total this season. New January signing Louie Sibley will also be one to watch after he grabbed a goal on his debut for the Millers after the midfielder was brought in on loan from Oxford in the hopes that he can boost a second-half-of-the-season promotion push.
Cambridge United have done well to prove doubters wrong and avoid relegation for three seasons straight since gaining promotion to League One in 2021, however, this year their fate is uncertain with the U’s spending most of the season so far in the bottom four. Their form has not been great all season, with one win and five losses in their last eight games currently.
Predicted Line Up (3-4-2-1): Jack Stevens, Zeno Ibsen Rossi, Kelland Watts, Michael Morrison, Liam Bennett, Danny Andrew, James Brophy, Jordan Cousins, Elias Kachunga, Josh Stokes, Ryan Loft
Josh Stokes has picked up two goals in his last two games and will look to build on his good form, the Bristol City loanee has found regular game time in recent weeks at Cambridge. The experienced Elias Kachunga is the U’s top scorer in League One with six goals and therefore is bound to be involved if Cambridge are to achieve a shock victory.
This pair have met 29 times historically, Rotherham United have won on 15 occasions, and there have been 6 draws and 8 wins for Cambridge. Their previous five meetings are as follows:
Cambridge concede an average of two goals away and will be looking to decrease the gap to safety, however, Rotherham will be strong enough to oversee a home win in this fixture.
For this reason, our betting experts say Rotherham to Win and Over 2.5 Goals is the best value tip for this game. With odds at 7/4, a bet of £10 could see a potential return of up to £27.60
