It’s the international break ladies and gentlemen, but that doesn’t mean we’re giving up on our expert tips, instead we’ve done our research on the remaining EFL fixtures.
We’re taking a look at Saturday’s fixture, where Karl Robinson’s Salford host David Artell’s Grimsby.
Both teams have had inconsistent starts to the season. Grimsby have looked really good in patches, while being really disappointing in other games.
Salford are the same, and have often struggled to score.
Salford City Predicted Line-up - Jamie Jones; Haji Mnoga, Stephan Negru, Josh Austerfield; Jon Taylor, Ossama Ashley, Tyrese Fornah, Luke Garbutt; Kelly N'Mai; Kylian Kouassi, Junior Luamba
Salford will likely stick pretty close to the line-up that earned them an impressive win over AFC Wimbledon, just replacing Cole Stockton with Junior Luamba.
Despite their impressive win, they’ve struggled to score in other fixtures, a trend which may continue.
If Kelly N’Mai can create chances, they might score more goals.
Grimsby Town Predicted Line-up - Jackson Smith; Tyrell Warren, Lewis Cass, Cameron McJannet, Denver Hume; George McEachran; Jason Dadi Svanthorsson, Kieran Green, Evan Khouri, Luca Barrington; Danny Rose
Whilst Grimsby have been very inconsistent, they’ll still be reasonably happy with their overall performances this season.
They haven’t drawn yet this season which has made for exciting viewing so far, and I can’t see them drawing here.
Jason Dadi Svanthorsson will be back in the lineup, and will be key for the away team.
The two teams have met eight times since 2019. Of these fixtures, Salford City have won three, and Grimsby have also won three.
Two have resulted in a draw, which shows how evenly matched these two sides have been over the years.
29th December 2023 - Salford 0-3 Grimsby - League Two
15th August 2023 - Grimsby 2-0 Salford - League Two
29th December 2022 - Grimsby 1-4 Salford - League Two
1st October 2022 - Salford 1-1 Grimsby - League Two
2nd April 2022 - Salford 1-1 Grimsby - League Two
Whilst it’s hard to use form as a guide given the inconsistency shown by these sides, we think Salford’s attacking returns do not bode well for them.
Also, Grimsby have dominated the last few meetings between the teams.
We think overall the best value tip is Grimsby Town to win, backed up by our research.
Odds of 21/10 on QuinnBet mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £31 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Salford City 0-2 Grimsby Town
Unfortunately for Salford, their good win over Wimbledon will be forgotten with a loss to Grimsby on the horizon.
This fixture takes place in League one, but we think Birmingham will walk the division above.
