Friday night Bundesliga football brings a clash between Freiburg and Werder Bremen, with just six points separating the clubs within the top 10. Freiburg currently occupy a European spot in fifth but a win would move Bremen within three points of their opponents. Freiburg got the better of Bremen earlier this season so the Green-Whites will be looking for revenge at the Europa-Park Stadion.
Not many teams can boast better form in their last four matches than Freiburg. The South West German team have nine points from three wins and one loss against table leaders Bayern Munich. Freiburg are currently on a streak of three straight 1-0 wins albeit against sides lower down in the table. After spending two seasons playing Europa League football, Freiburg missed out on UEFA action this campaign, however currently sat in fifth they could potentially be set for a return to the second tier of Europe.
Werder Bremen cannot boast the same form as their opponents, they have one win in their previous four games coming against Mainz. They’ve suffered back to back defeats to Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim. The German side have spent one of the last 44 seasons outside of the top flight but have had no European action since 2010/11,often finishing in the mid table places.
Predicted Line Up (4-2-3-1): Noah Atubolu, Kiliann Sildillia, Matthias Ginter, Philipp Lienhart, Christian Gunter, Maximilian Eggestein, Nicolas Hofler, Merlin Rohl, Vincenzo Grifo, Ritsu Doan, Lucas Holer
Freiburg legend Grifo and Japanese winger Doan are a dangerous duo on either flank of Freiburg’s attack. They have 28 goal contributions combined in all competitions this season, with Grifo recently scoring the winner in Freiburg’s win over Heidenheim.
Predicted Line Up (5-3-2): Michael Zetterer, Anthony Jung, Niklas Stark, Milos Veljkovic, Mitchell Weiser, Issa Kabore, Senne Lynen, Marco Grull, Romano Schmid, Justin Njinmah, Marvin Ducksch
