At Football Park, we love the EFL. So I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing you betting tips for League One fixtures.
I’m taking a look at Saturday's game where Paul Hurst’s Shrewsbury Town host Chris Davies’ Birmingham City.
Birmingham will be delighted with their start to the season, but I don’t think they expected Wycombe to be as strong as they have been this year.
Shrewsbury, on the other hand, are nailed to the foot of the table.
Shrewsbury Town Predicted Line-up - Toby Savin; George Nurse, Aaron Pierre, Josh Feeney, Malvind Benning; Carl Winchester, Alex Gilliead, Jordan Rossiter, Leo Castledine; John Marquis, George Lloyd
Following a 2-0 defeat to Burton Albion, Shrewsbury Town find themselves rock bottom of the League Two table.
They’ve lost 11 of their 15 games so far this season, an unpromising sign of things to come perhaps.
If anyone’s been somewhat of a bright spark, it’s been George Lloyd, who’ll be keen to get on the scoresheet again.
Birmingham City Predicted Line-up - Ryan Allsopp; Ethan Laird, Christoph Klarer, Krystian Bielik, Alex Cochrane; Seung-Ho Paik, Tomoki Iwata; Keshi Anderson, Willum Thor Willumsson, Ayumu Yokoyama; Jay Stansfield
Birmingham City, despite a bit of inconsistency at teams, are without a doubt the best team in League One this year.
Their squad is immense, with players like Jay Stansfield and Christoph Klarer clearly being a level above the competition.
They’ll be relying on Stansfield to score the goals to return them to the top of the table.
These sides have faced each other just once in a competitive competition, ironically it was earlier this year. I’ll let the scoreline speak for itself.
8th October 2024 - Shrewsbury 0-4 Birmingham - EFL Trophy
Unfortunately for Shrewsbury, they just haven’t been good enough to compete with any team in the division this year.
Not least Birmingham, who I think eventually win the title.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Half-time Birmingham/Full-time Birmingham, backed up by our research.
Odds of 1/1 on BetFred mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £20 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Shrewsbury Town 0-3 Birmingham City
Birmingham will continue going blow for blow with Wycombe Wanderers for top spot.
Later that day, Manchester City face Tottenham Hotspur.
