League one has been great watching this season, probably due to the newfound quality to the league, and it’s certainly exciting to bet on.
We’re taking a look at Saturday’s action, as Dave Challinor’s Stockport County host Ian Evatt’s Bolton Wanderers.
Birmingham City have captured all the headlines this season, and rightly so, but the two teams we’re focusing on here have quietly been having very good seasons.
Stockport are 10th, whilst Bolton sit 6th.
Stockport County Predicted Line-up - Corey Addai; Ryan Rydel, Fraser Horsfall, Ethan Pye; Macaulay Southam-Hales, Lewis Bate, Will Collar, Ibou Touray; Isaac Olaofe, Kyle Wootton, Louie Barry
Stockport need a serious turn-around, following their 5-0 dismantling at the hands of Wycombe Wanderers.
We’re expecting them to make wholesale changes to both their side and system, as Challinor looks to recapture the form they showed earlier in the season.
Louie Barry will of course be vital, he’s already bagged nine League One goals this season.
Bolton Wanderers Predicted Line-up - Luke Southwood; William Forrester, Ricardo Santos, George Johnston; Josh Dacres-Cogley, Josh Sheehan, Jay Matete, Szabolcs Schon; John McAtee, Aaron Collins, Victor Adeboyejo
After a disappointing start to the campaign, Bolton Wanderers have really turned things around in recent weeks, and look a serious play-off contender.
A 4-1 win over Stevenage last time out in the league is probably the standout game from their season so far.
John McAtee will need to step up and keep providing goals from midfield, given Dion Charles omission.
These two sides have met five times since 2017. Of their meetings, Stockport and Bolton have each won one fixture.
The other three matches resulted in draws, so this is tough to call.
14th November 2023 - Stockport 0-2 Bolton - EFL Trophy
17th November 2021 - Stockport 5-3 Bolton - FA Cup
7th November 2021 - Bolton 2-2 Stockport - FA Cup
25th July 2017 - Stockport 0-0 Bolton - Friendly
These two sides have experienced very similar form this campaign, just at different times of the season.
Both sides tend to attack early, and then concede later on, so we’d expect a similar tactical set up too.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Full time draw, backed up by our research.
Odds of 5/2 on QuinnBet mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £35 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Stockport County 1-1 Bolton Wanderers
The similarities between the two sides means it will result in a draw.
The night before, Watford host Oxford United.
