Yet another international break is upon us, and whilst you can’t watch your favourite Premier League action, we can still have a flutter on some tasty EFL action.
Dave Challinor’s Stockport County host Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham team.
Both teams will be very happy with the way they’ve adapted following promotion. Wrexham sit 3rd, and Stockport sit 6th.
Stockport County Predicted Line-up - Ben Hinchliffe, Ibou Touray, Fraser Horsfall, Callum Connolly, Ryan Rydel, Oliver Norwood, Lewis Bate, Macauley Southam-Hales, Will Collar, Kyle Wootton, Louie Barry
Stockport, although not expected to perform quite as well as their opponents, have been excellent so far this season.
Yes they were on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing against Wycombe, but they also dished out a 5-0 thrashing against Bolton Wanderers.
Louie Barry has reached another level this year, he’s already got 10 League One goals.
Wrexham Predicted Line-up - Arthur Okonkwo, Max Cleworth, Dan Scarr, Ryan Barnett, Thomas O’Connor, George Dobson, Andy Cannon, Elliot Lee, James McClean, Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer
As expected, Wrexham flew out of the gates in League One this season. They’ve been on a rapid rise in the past few years.
However, they’ve shown a tendency to fall to draws when sides similar in strength to them really match them.
Top scorer Jack Marriott, who’s got five to his name so far, is injured so misses out.
These two sides have met 23 times since 2004. Of them, Stockport have won 11, and so have Wrexham.
One match has resulted in a draw. Talk about neck and neck.
27th April 2024 - Wrexham 2-1 Stockport - League Two
23rd September 2023 - Stockport 5-0 Wrexham - League Two
8th May 2022 - Wrexham 3-0 Stockport - National League
2nd April 2022 - Wrexham 2-0 Stockport - FA Trophy
25th September 2021 - Stockport 2-1 Wrexham - National League
Wow, tough to split these teams. They’re both very good, and also very inconsistent. That being said, I think Stockport will edge it.
Louie Barry has once again reached another level, and he’ll be vital in this fixture, along with Wrexham missing Jack Marriott.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Stockport County to win, backed up by our research.
Odds of 13/10 on BetFred mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £23 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Stockport County 2-1 Wrexham
It won’t be easy, but Stockport will edge this one.
We’ve had our say on who’s going to win League One this season.
