Sunderland welcomed Derby County after both sides lost their last games in the Championship.
Sunderland need to bounce back and prove they’re worthy title contenders after their loss on the road to Watford. Meanwhile Derby County will be desperate to get three points on the board against a young side.
Sunderland Predicted Line-ups: Anthony Patterson; Dennis Cirkin, Luke O'Nien, Chris Mepham, Trai Hume; Jobe Bellingham, Dan Neil, Chris Rigg; Romaine Mundle, Wilson Isidor, Patrick Roberts.
Sunderland have been the team that has surprised everyone in the Championship so far. They won their first four games of the season despite losing star winger Jack Clarke early on in the season. Under a new manager in Regis Le Bris, the Black Cats have one of the youngest teams in the EFL but are performing at a very high level.
A player we think you should keep an eye on is winger Romaine Mundle. He’s done excellently to fill the shoes of Clarke on the left-wing, and already has three goals in five starts. His dribbling is some of the best stuff you’ll see at this level and he’s a hard worker, with a deadly strike.
The loss at the weekend to Watford will be one that Sunderland are so disappointed with. Derby at a low point after consecutive defeats. This game is the perfect one for the Black Cats.
Derby County Predicted Line-ups: Jacob Widell Zetterström; Craig Forsyth, Eiran Cashin, Curtis Nelson, Ryan Nyambe; Ebou Adams, Ben Osborn, Kenzo Goudmijn; Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Jerry Yates, Kayden Jackson.
Derby County had seemed like they had swapped their form around after wins against Bristol City and Cardiff City. But their two losses to Sheffield United and Norwich have shown that they probably won’t be competing towards the top end of the table this time round.
They have a strong home record, but going away to a very strong Sunderland side is an extremely hard task right now. Every team that has faced Sudnerland at their Stadium of Light so far has suffered defeat.
Sunderland and Derby County haven’t faced each other in many years. The last meeting was in 2018, when Sunderland won 4-1 away from home.
Sunderland haven’t lost to Derby at home since 1990.

Sunderland have been by far the better side so far this season, and that’s why we’re backing them to win this game and for there to be over 1.5 goals scored. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 21/20 which would return £20.50 from a £10 stake.
Sunderland 2-0 Derby County
We don’t see Derby having the quality to breakdown this Sunderland defence. It will be extremely difficult for them to create in this game with the high tempo of the home side.
