Our research takes us now to the most exciting league in the world, where Luke Williams’ Swansea take on Liam Manning’s Bristol City.
The two sides will meet at the Swansea.com stadium for this Championship fixture.
Both sides have had decent starts to this Championship campaign. Although neither side would’ve been expecting ground breaking successes this year, they’ll be happy with the start of the campaign.
There’s only two points separating these two teams in the table, so Bristol City will be looking to leapfrog their upcoming opponents.
Swansea City Predicted Line-up - Lawrence Vigouroux; Josh Key, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling, Josh Tymon; Ronald Pereira, Goncalo Franco, Matt Grimes, Ji-sung Eom, Liam Cullen; Oliver Cooper
Despite a slight dip in form a few weeks ago, where they lost to Wycombe and West Brom, Swansea have been successful so far this season. They’ve won two on the bounce against Norwich and Coventry.
With Sheffield United up next, Swansea will see this as a must win to keep their good form going.
Captain Matt Grimes will be key for the host, he’s notched a goal already this season, and the bite he provides in midfield is irreplaceable.
Bristol City Predicted Line-up - Max O'Leary; George Tanner, Zak Vyner, Luke McNally, Haydon Roberts, Joe Williams, Jason Knight, Anis Mehmeti, Max Bird, Scott Twine; Sinclair Armstrong
Bristol City’s start to the season has been mixed, but a win here would give a much more positive outlook. They did endure back 3-0 losses to Blackburn and Derby, but bounced back with a good win over Oxford United.
Scott Twine will be key, his ability on the ball is a different level, and should he be able to feed Sinclair Armstrong Swansea will have some trouble.
The two sides have met a total of 24 times since 2005. In that time Swansea City have won seven games, scoring 23 goals. Bristol City have won nine, scoring 19 goals.
Eight matches have resulted in a draw.
10th March 2024 - Bristol City 1-0 Swansea City - Championship
2nd September 2023 - Swansea City 1-2 Bristol City - Championship
19th March 2023 - Swansea 2-0 Bristol City - Championship
17th January 2023 - Swansea City 1-2 Bristol City - FA Cup
8th January 2023 - Bristol City 1-1 Swansea City - FA Cup
Despite both teams looking pretty similar on paper, and Bristol City’s better head to head record, I think Bristol City will be the cause of their own failure on Sunday.
The Robins’ excessive focus on possession means they’re not focused enough on scoring goals and winning matches, which means Swansea will take advantage of that.
We think overall the best value tip is Swansea to win this match, backed up by our research.
Odds of 11/8 on Ladbrokes mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £23.75 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Swansea City 1-0 Bristol City
It’ll be a close match, but the hosts will just about edge this one.
Gab Sutton, EFL expert, has compiled a group of his surefire predictions for this weekend.
