This Matchday 3 game in the EFL Championship sees an all Welsh clash as Cardiff City make the short journey over to face Swansea in a match that could get heated.
Swansea have already had an up and down start to the year as they came away from the first game of the season with just zero points after being defeated 1-0 to Middlesborough curtesy of a converted penalty by Emmanuel Latte Lath, one of the favourites tipped to end the season as Golden Boot winner. However, their next match went in their favour as they progressed into the next round of the Carabao Cup on, handing out a 3-1 defeat to League Two side Gillingham. Back to the league and they thrashed Preston North End 3-0 at home and ended the match with a total of 12 shot in total.
They can take positives from those games as that know means that they have amassed 10 goals form their last 5 games. Swans manager Luke Williams can take pride in the fact that his team are executing his vision perfectly. They currently stand first out of all the teams in the Championship for the average percentage of possession with 62%. That will need to continue if they want to see off fellow Welsh side Cardiff City in this game.
Capital based club Cardiff City have had a horrendous start to the season. They currently sit dead last in the Championship standings after two games, both resulting in losses. Sunderland came to the Cardiff City Stadium on opening day and left with all three points as they won 0-2. Cardiff’s next match went a lot worse. They were hammered 5-0 against recently relegated side Scott Parker’s Burnley 5-0. There are other teams that have lost both games so far but Cardiff’s 0-7 goal difference is the reason they sit in 24th place.
It isn’t a complete goalscoring problem though as in their last five games across all competitions, The Bluebirds have registered six goals. Two of those goals came in a 2-0 victory in Round 1 of the Carabao Cup beating a team in the division below, League One team Bristol Rovers.
There is some hope for Cardiff as in their last eight matches against Swansea, their has not been a draw. However, out of the 14 times these two sides have faced each other, Cardiff have only come out victors in four occasions.

Our betting experts have gone with Swansea To Win + Over 1.5 Goals. Cardiff are yet to pick up any points, let alone win this season and that is why we have selected a win for The Swans. This derby match normally delivers goals as well as out of the last ten times the two sides have played, there has been seven matches in which the game ended in more than 1.5 goals.
