Yet another international break is upon us, and whilst it might not be your favourite time of the year, there’s still value to be found.
We’re taking a look at Friday’s game, where Murat Yakin’s Switzerland host Dragan Stojkovic’s Serbia.
Neither team will be particularly happy with their performance so far in the Nations League, Switzerland sit fourth in the group, while Serbia sit third.
Switzerland Predicted Line-up - Gregor Kobel; Silvan Widmer, Albian Hajdari, Eray Comert, Ricardo Rodriguez; Remo Freuler, Granit Xhaka; Zeki Amdouni, Fabian Rieder, Michel Aebischer; Breel Embolo
Switzerland, despite their strong squad, have really struggled so far in the Nations League. They’ve amassed just one point with a draw against Denmark.
That being said, they did beat Serbia at the last two World Cup’s, and there’s a lot of history behind this fixture.
Granit Xhaka will be vital, he’s progressed so well in the last few years.
Serbia Predicted Line-up - Dorde Petrovic; Strahinja Erakovic, Nikola Milenkovic, Strahinja Pavlovic; Kosta Nedeljkovic, Nemanja Maksimovic, Marko Grujic, Aleksa Terzic; Lazar Samardzic; Dusan Vlahovic, Aleksandar Mitrovic
Serbia also have reason to be disappointed ahead of this fixture, given they could still be relegated from their group.
That being said, they beat Switzerland 2-0 last time they met, so that will provide some respite.
They’re without Sasa Lukic, who’s a seriously underrated aspect of their midfield fluidity.
These two sides have met three times since 2018. Of their meetings, Switzerland have won two, and Serbia have won one.
There’s been no draws in this fixture in recent times.
12th October 2024 - Serbia 2-0 Switzerland - Nations League
2nd December 2022 - Serbia 2-3 Switzerland - World Cup
22nd June 2018 - Serbia 1-2 Switzerland - World Cup
Despite Switzerland’s current injury crisis, along with losing last time out, we think they’ll come out on top here.
They’ve proved time and time again they’re the stronger side, and that’ll shine through to the scoreline.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Switzerland to win, backed up by our research.
Odds of 17/20 on QuinnBet mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £18.50 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Switzerland 2-1 Serbia
It will certainly be a tight affair, but Switzerland will return to winning ways.
At the same time, Scotland host Croate.
