It’s still the International Break and here at Football Park we have a tip for this Sunday’s UEFA Nations League match between Switzerland and Spain. This match could bring plenty of drama so find out what are tip is down below.
A start to their UEFA Nations League began last Thursday for Switzerland when they took on Denmark. Looking like it would end goalless between the two side, that all changed with 10 minutes left to play. Switzerland crumbled defensively and conceded twice for Denmark to leave that match with all three points.
Switzerland finished the match with just nine players on the field come the final whistle, a straight red for centre back Nico Elvedi and an accumulation of two yellows saw captain Granit Xhaka hit the showers early. They will now be ineligible to play in this huge match against Spain so manager Murat Yakin will have to look to his squad and select someone he feels can do a decent job filling in for Elvedi and Xhaka.
The last time that these countries faced against each other was coincidently in the UEFA Nations League back in 2022. A-Team were 1-2 victors in that match thanks to goals from Manuel Akanji and Breel Embolo. They will look to repeat the trick but with vital player Xhaka unable to play, it could be a herculean task for Switzerland.
Reaching one of the highest of highs back in July, Euro 2024 champions Spain reached a low last Thursday night. A 0-0 stalemate with Serbia after producing 21 total shots, five of those actually on target. Dominating the match like they normally do, Spain had 74% possession and outscored Serbia in the corner department by seven, nine going Spain’s way and two for Serbia. They should have won that match but were not the clinical outfit that saw them lift the European Championship trophy just 54 days ago.
Spain come into this year’s edition of the UEFA Nations League as reigning champions, another accolade in their mightily impressive collection. Croatia suffered a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat in the Final at the hands of La Roja last June.
They are one of the best teams in the world at the moment, Spain’s number three spot in the FIFA World Rankings a deserved place. Spain won all of their games in Euro 2024 so the last time they actually lost a match in a competitive fixture was way back in March of last year where they lost 2-0 to Scotland in a Euro qualification match. The Serbia match looks to a be a rare dip in performance so De la Fuente’s side will look to bounce back to winning ways versus Switzerland.
Kobel; Wuthrich, Akanji, Rodriguez; Widmer, Freuler, Zakaria, Aebischer; Rieder, Embolo, Vargas

Our betting experts have gone with Spain To Win + Both Teams To Score. Current Euros and Nations League champions Spain will be keen to see that they are back to winning ways, and we think that will be the case in this match. However, Switzerland aren’t so easy to count out, even with the suspension of two players. We can see them getting on the scoresheet with the team that they have.
