Aldershot make the trip to Tamworth in this Vanrama National League game where the host aim to achieve their first win of the season.
Tamworth were playing their football in the National League North last season and their efforts led them to an automatic promotion after clinching the title with an eight point gap to second placed Scunthorpe United. Their record at the end of last year was an impressive 29 wins, 8 losses and 9 draws.
After leaving it very late to score their 90+4 minute equaliser, Tamworth shared a point with Boston United in their previous game. Prior to that they had lost back to back, 2-0 away to York City and 0-1 at home to Hartlepool. Tamworth will be hoping for a better result in this match as they are still yet to earn three points just yet. They currently sit in 20th place after four games ,two losses and two draws.
Their form that saw them win the National League North has seemed to have disappeared so manager Andy Peaks will be working hard with his players on the training ground to try and get back into the swing of things as see if they can pick up results again, starting with this game.
Aldershot are currently in their 12th season in the National League and they will aim to make it to the playoff places after missing out on that final spot by just two points last year. 20 wins, 17 losses and 9 draws gave them 69 points, just shy of 7th place Halifax Town.
This season they have picked up every single result possible in their opening three games, a win, loss and draw. A goal filled 3-3 opening game draw against Forest Green Rovers, a 0-1 win on the road at Halifax Town and then seeing a 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Braintree Town. They added to their win collection though in their game on Saturday, thrashing Oldham Athletic 4-1 at home.
With an up and down season so far, The Shots will have to start getting into a rhythm under manager Tommy Widdrington if they want to achieve their ambitions of getting promoted back into League Two, playing football there for the first time since the 2012/13 season.
Our betting experts have gone with Aldershot To Win. This will be a close game to call but we feel like Aldershot will see out a victory. Tamworth come into this game with the slightly worse form, their opponents have just beaten someone 4-1 and in their respective last five games, The Lambs are outscored by Aldershot by four goals, five for Tamworth and nine for Aldershot.
