Team Previews, Form and Standout Players - A chance for Gateshead to continue their promotion charge

Gateshead are not long off the back of their popular manager Rob Elliot being recruited by League One’s Crawley Town. Now under the reigns of caretaker manager Ben Clark, they won their weekend game at home to Wealdstone 1-0, as they try to maintain their strong start to the season.

Tamworth Preview

Tamworth Predicted Line-up: Jasbir Singh; Luke John Fairlamb, Haydn Hollis, Kennedy Digie, Jordan Thomas Cullinane-Liburd; Benjamin Acquaye, George Morrison, Benjamin Milnes, Thomas Ryan McGlinchey; Daniel James Creaney; Nathan Muya Tshikuna.

Tamworth have had a very successful last two seasons. They are back-to-back promotion winners from the South Premier Central League in 2022/23, followed by their continuation straight into the 5th tier last time out from National League North. Although this season hasn’t been completely disastrous, they might not be able to make it three straight promotions this time round.

At the end of September, Tamworth went on a very impressive three game winning streak, which saw them climb out of the relegation zone. However, they’ve lost their last two games now, Altrincham and FC Halifax Town. They come into this in 19th with 14 points from their first 12 games.

Gateshead Preview

Gateshead Predicted Line-up: Tiernan Brooks; Dan Jones, Robbie Tinkler, Ben Radcliffe; Luke Hannant, Callum Whelan, Regan Booty, Jacob Butterfield, Tyrelle Benjamin Newton; Owen Eric Damilola Oseni, Tom Allan.

It was hard to look past Gateshead at the start of the season under Rob Elliott. They went undefeated in their first seven games before being thrashed 7-1 away at Dagenham & Redbridge in what will probably go down as the biggest shock this season.

Right now though, they are still well in the race to go up. They’re currently 4th on 26 points, just four off the top spot currently occupied by Barnet. A win in this game could see them rise above York City and Forest Green Rovers and into second.

The departure of Rob Elliot no doubt rocked the club, but they’re turning themselves into a real contender for this division. There is also no doubt that their next recruitment will be the right one. With or without a permanent manager, they won their last four games on the bounce and look very hard to beat.

Tamworth vs Gateshead Predictions

We’re backing Gateshead to win this game. Through our bookmakers, you can get odds of 8/11. A £10 stake returning £17.27.

Gateshead are by far the superior side for this contest. Despite the lack of a permanent head coach, they’re a well run club and have a record this season to threaten any team in the division.

Tamworth, although at home, will struggle in his game. They’ve conceded the joint 4th highest goals so far this season and have only won two of their five home fixtures.

Final Prediction: Tamworth vs Gateshead

Tamworth 1-3 Gateshead

Gateshead will prove one again that they are not the kind of side to be messed with this campaign. A side with a lot of quality that will prevail.
