Hartlepool prepare to take Tamworth in this National League clash. Both teams will want to become one of the 92 teams that are currently in the EFL come the end of the season so this game could be crucial in each others season.
Tamworth were playing their football in the National League North last season and their efforts led them to an automatic promotion after clinching the title with an eight point gap to second placed Scunthorpe United. Their record at the end of last year was an impressive 29 wins, 8 losses and 9 draws.
After losing their previous game 2-0 away to York City, Tamworth will be hoping for a better result in this match. They currently sit in 18th place after that loss and a 1-1 draw to Sutton United on opening weekend.
Their form that saw them win the National League North has seemed to have disappeared so manager Andy Peaks will be working hard with his players on the training ground to try and get back into the swing of things as see if they can pick up results again, starting with this game.
Hartlepool were relegated into the National League two season ago after finishing second from bottom in the 22/23 season. Last year they had a comfortable 12th place spot secured but they will need to make it to at least the Playoff places to try and achieve their target of promotion. They have ambitions of making it back to the EFL and this match is great for them to try and do so against a that has not played in the National League for 10 years.
After two games Hartlepool are currently in 10th place, a win and a draw their results so far. That win is a good indication for this match as they beat Yeovil Town 0-1, the key factor being that they were away from home, just like they are in this game against Tamworth.
Manager Darren Sarll will want a better performance then their last game though as that ended in a goalless draw with Sutton United. Hartlepool have the players to score but some finishing drills in training to try and improve their knack for finding the back of the net wouldn’t go amiss before this game.
Our betting experts have gone with Hartlepool To Win. Having played in this league longer than Tamworth, Hartlepool have the experience against the better teams and will know how to see off the match in a way that doesn’t have them all over the place. As it is the National League anything could happen, but we see Hartlepool claim all three points, maybe even winning the match by just one goal.
