Torino vs Bologna Prediction

Last season's surprise package Bologna will loom to stay in touch with those around them in the race for Europe when they travel to Turin to face Torino on Saturday.

Despite losing some key players from last season, in which they qualified for the Champions league for the first time in their history, they have still had a respectable first third of the season, sitting seventh, three points behind Juventus and with a game in hand.

Torino have had a less promising start, winning five of their 16 games so far and sitting 11th, five points above the relegation zone. While they are in a position of relative safety for now, a drop off in form could see them tumble down the table and suddenly put them in a position of risk.

With the two teams looking to improve their table position, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.

Key Statistics

  • Torino are the second lowest scorers in the top 12, netting just 17 times so far this campaign. Only Empoli have scored fewer (14).
  • They have also failed to score more than one goal in a game in their last eight fixtures, a run stretching back to October.
  • Bologna are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions.
  • Bologna keeper Lukasz Skorupski is averaging 1.9 saves per match, the second lowest total of any Serie A side.

Torino Preview

Torino Predicted Lineup (3-5-2): Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (GK); Adam Masina, Sebastian Walukiewicz, Adrien Tameze; Borna Sosa, Gvidas Gineitis, Karol Linetti, Samuele Ricci, Marcus Holmgren Pedersen; Antonio Sanabria, Che Adams.

Torino have proved tricky opposition for many of their opponents, but their lack of goal scoring threat has come back to bite them more often than not.

While they are hard to break down, sitting deep and looking to hit opponents on the counter, they always have one momentary lapse of concentration in them, one significant enough to be punished for.

But while they have only scored 17 goals, their tally of 20 conceded is a silver lining. Lazio sit in 5th place, but have conceded three more goals.

Torino simply need to be more clinical up front, but in missing go-to goal scorer Duvan Zapata, their task is made significantly harder.

Bologna Preview

Bologna Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Charalambos Lykogiannis, Jhon Lucumi, Sam Beukema, Stefan Posch; Tommaso Pobego, Remo Freuler; Benjamin Dominguez, Lewis Ferguson, Samuel Iling-Junior; Santiago Castro.

Unbeaten in their last five, Bologna have recovered well from an inconsistent start to the campaign. Amazingly, they have only lost two league games, but their progress has been limited thanks to seven draws, the second most of any side in the league.

However, a win over fourth placed Fiorentina is cause for cautious optimism, and if they can back that result up with a win here over a mid-table Torino, they will return to the centre of the European football discussion.

They do have a couple of significant injuries, including missing top goalscorer Riccardo Orsolini, but their squad is of Champions League calibre, so if a side were to win, it would most likely be Bologna.

Torino vs Bologna Betting Tip

While Bologna are favorites, two of their three wins in the recent upturn in form were over strugglers Monza and Venezia, so the jury is still out on whether they are set to start a real surge up the table.

Combining that with Torino’s aforementioned patchiness, this game could go either way, which means one thing. We are backing a draw in both halves.

Torino vs Bologna Final Prediction

Torino 1-1 Bologna

The sides will go into the break at 0-0, but the game will open up in the second half, producing goals for both sides.
