Chelsea’s squad is BLOATED, and that’s an understatement. With a squad size of 41, it’s safe to say they’ll be looking to offload a few players before the end of the transfer window.
One player who looks like they might be set to leave, is academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah. The defender has been relentlessly linked away from Stamford Bridge this summer, in a similar vein to fellow Cobham graduate Conor Gallagher.
The trend of selling home grown products has only increased this summer, with many clubs nervous about the implications of breaching PSR rules.
With Tosin Adaribioyo joining Chelsea on a free transfer this summer, they now look overstocked at right centre-back, only increasing the chances of Chalobah’s departure. Whilst this makes no sense to me, with Chalobah seemingly a class above Tosin, what does make sense at Chelsea right now?
One club which Chalobah has repeatedly been linked to is local rivals Fulham. Whilst the links might have died down in recent weeks, everyone knows Fulham like to do their business later in the summer when bargains become available.
Fulham have been assessing Issa Diop in pre-season, but after a glaring mistake in a friendly against Sevilla, it appears Marco Silva would like a new man in the door.
With Fulham clearly in the market for a right centre-back, and their move for Joel Matip not materialising, it makes sense that the cottagers would return for Chelsea’s Chalobah. The player wouldn’t have to relocate to facilitate the move, and Silva has a great reputation for developing players.
Although West Ham also hold an interest in the player, their recent expenditure on Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville and Niklas Fullkrug means they might not be able to afford Chelsea’s asking price for Chalobah.
Research considered, our expert tipsters have decided to back Chalobah to join Fulham in this transfer window. At odds of 6/1 on PariMatch, a stake of just £10 could return a very comfortable £70.
