World Cup holders and number one ranked team in the world according to the FIFA World Rankings, Argentina continue their qualifying progress ahead of the next World Cup as they travel to take on Venezuela at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín on Thursday 10th October 2024.
Argentina are looking to go one step closer to qualification for the next World Cup as they take on Venezuela in a World Cup qualifying match. This while also looking to get back on form following a difficult loss last time out. Venezuela on the other hand will be wanting to improve as they look for qualification again.
Venezuela Predicted Lineup - Rafael Romo; Jon Aramburu, Yordan Osorio, Nahuel Ferraresi, Miguel Navarro; Jose Martinez, Cristian Casseres Jr, Telasco Segovia; Eduard Bello, Saloman Rondon, Yeferson Soteldo
Venezuela are on a fairly good run of form having lost just one of the last seven games. However they sit sixth in the qualifying table. This is not ideal as they look to qualify for the World Cup.
This will be no easy test with Argentina by far the better team. Venezuela needs to improve as against bigger teams they tend to fold. Could this be a big opportunity for an upset?
Argentina Predicted Lineup - Emiliano Martinez; Gonzalo Montiel, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, Nicolas Tagliafico; Rodrigo de Paul, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister, Leandro Paredes; Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez
Argentina are the top team in world football according to the FIFA World Rankings. However they lost in their previous match against Colombia. Something they will look to change in this match.
However Argentina are still a world class team. They sit top of their qualifying group and are showing no signs of slowing down.
They keep a lot of clean sheets and score a lot of goals.
These two nations have faced one another 28 times in their histories.
Argentina has a huge advantage unsurprisingly. They have won 24 games while Venezuela have only one two. There have also been two draws.
In fact Argentina have won each of the last three games against Thursday’s hosts. The last time Venezuela won was in an International Friendly back in 2019.
Not only this but Argentina haven’t lost in Venezuela since 2011.
25th March 2022 - Argentina 3-0 Venezuela - FIFA World Cup Qualifying
2nd September 2021 - Venezuela 1-3 Argentina - FIFA World Cup Qualifying

22nd March 2019 - Argentina 1-3 Venezuela - International Friendly
5th September 2017 - Argentina 1-1 Venezuela - FIFA World Cup Qualifying
In this game we can’t help but feel as though Argentina are clear favourites and should win. Venezuela tends to struggle at home and especially against the bigger teams. Argentina included as proven by their awful record against them.
With Argentina’s superb defence and even better attack they should come away with a comfortable victory.
We are backing odds of 5/4 for Argentina To Win To Nil. £10 having the potential to return up to £22.50 in this match.
(Odds subject to change)
Venezuela 0-2 Argentina
Argentina are a much better side and should come away with a comfortable victory against what is a struggling Venezuela team.
