The EFL Championship season continues on Thursday 7th November 2024 with a huge clash between West Brom and Burnley at the Hawthorns.
A battle between fourth and sixth takes place this Thursday with West Brom facing Burnley. Both sides have been without a win for a little while now so will be desperate for a good performance in this game. Putting them back on track for a promotion push.
West Brom Predicted Lineup - Alex Palmer; Callum Styles, Torbjorn Heggem, Mason Holgate, Darnell Furlong; Alex Mowatt, Uros Racic; Karlan Grant, John Swift, Tom Fellows; Josh Maja
West Brom have picked up 21 points from 13 EFL Championship matches this season. A dip off from their perfect start in recent weeks will be frustrating however they still sit in a playoff spot. However a win here will be needed.
This season they have only scored 14 goals so far. This is the joint fourth least in the division. However they have only conceded eight - the joint second least in the league. If they can score more and maintain their good defensive record they will surely fly up the table even more.
A win here could take them up as high as fourth in the table and continue their unbeaten run. It is much needed right now.
Burnley Predicted Lineup - James Trafford; Lucas Pires, Maxime Esteve, CJ Egan-Riley, Connor Roberts; Josh Brownhill, Josh Cullen; Jaidon Anthony, Hannibal Mejbri, Luca Koleosho; Zian Flemming
Burnley on the other hand are currently fourth in the league. This having picked up 23 points in 13 matches. However similarly to their opponents this weekend they have dipped off recently to the frustration of many Burnley fans.
The Clarets have scored 17 goals this season but where they are most impressive is at the back. They have only conceded six goals which is the joint least in the league. Can they continue that in this game against a strong West Brom side?
A win would potentially take them up to third place in the Championship so will be crucial if they are to make a push on the automatic places.
This match is set to be the 136th meeting between West Brom and Burnley.
It is this weekend’s hosts, West Brom, who hold the advantage. They have won 56 of those games while Burnley have won just 47. There have also been 32 draws in that time.
Despite that, West Brom haven’t won any of the last five games against Burnley. Their last victory against them came back in August 2017.
20th January 2023 - Burnley 2-1 West Brom - EFL Championship
2nd September 2022 - West Brom 1-1 Burnley - EFL Championship

19th October 2020 - West Brom 0-0 Burnley - Premier League
31st March 2018 - West Brom 1-2 Burnley - Premier League
This is bound to be a close fixture between two decent teams at the top of the EFL Championship table. With Burnley struggling as of late and the fans not best pleased this could be a huge chance for West Brom to take advantage and gain a valuable three points.
We are backing West Brom To Win in this game. And with odds of 13/10, £10 has the potential to return up to a possible £23. _ (Odds subject to change)_
West Brom 1-0 Burnley
Both teams are fairly evenly matched. There isn’t a whole load of goals in this game. However with Burnley’s recent struggle to get results and the pressure mounting we can’t help but feel West Brom should come away with a victory here.
