West Ham United vs Manchester United Prediction

Branded “El Sackico” by Premier League fans, Sunday’s action sees the struggling Hammer’s take on the lackluster Red Devils at the London Stadium at 2pm.

With just five wins between them from 14 games so far this season, both sides are in dire need of a confidence boosting result. United grabbed a deserved win over Brentford last weekend, but have looked inconsistent, and no one knows which United side will turn up on matchday.

West happen, despite being under the capable hands of Julen Lopetegui, have failed to capitalize on what was perceived to be a superb summer transfer window, and have just won just two while conceding 15.

As the high stakes clash edges closer, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.

Key Statistics

  • West Ham’s 15 goals conceded is the third worst in the league behind Ipswich (16), and Southampton (23)
  • They have also not kept a clean sheet this season in the league, though they did beat Bournemouth 1-0 in the Carabao Cup.
  • Manchester United’s games this season have been some of the most ‘boring’ in the league, with just 16 goals in total coming from their fixtures.
  • This will be United’s last away game for almost a month. They are not back on the road until they travel to Ipswich on November 24th.

West Ham Preview

West Ham Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Alphonse Areola (GK); Emerson Palmieri, Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka; Lucas Paqueta, Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek; Crysencio Summerville, Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen.

West Ham wasted a big opportunity at the weekend. Ahead at half time away to London rivals Spur’s, their first half performance fooled everyone into thinking they had turned a corner in their development under Lopetegui.

However, they totally fell apart in the second half, conceding four goals, and also losing Mohammed Kudus, who lost his head after a Micky Van de Ven challenge, and proceeded to lash out at both the Dutchman and Pape Mate Sarr.

However, his absence opens the door for summer signing Crysencio Summerville who has had limited game time since his arrival in the transfer window. West Ham fans will hope he comes out firing in what is a critical game in the context of their club's leadership.

Manchester United Preview

Manchester United Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Andre Onane (GK); Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Matthjis De Ligt, Diogo Dalot; Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen; Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford; Rasmus Hojlund.

Despite their slightly loftier table position than West Ham, Manchester United have been little better, and their win over Brentford last Saturday was their first in five games in competitions.

The victory may have eased the pressure on Erik Ten Haag slightly, but he still needs results from these sorts of games if he is to last to the end of the season. The return of Rasmus Hojlund from injury provides a much needed boost in front of goal, while the returns of Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are not far away.

If Ten Haag can keep most of his squad fit for even a few weeks, then United are more than capable of going on a scalp claiming run, but with the frequent injuries that ravage the squad, they look at present for another season of mediocrity.

West Ham vs Manchester United Betting Tip

Given the form of both sides, either could conceivably come away from this one with three points. Manchester United do look just marginally stronger, and will likely have more control in the game, limiting West Ham to counter attacks.

We reckon Manchester United will scrape a win, but don’t put your mortgage on it - this game is too unpredictable for that.

West Ham vs Manchester United Final Prediction

West Ham 0-1 Manchester United

I doubt this will be a particularly exciting game. Both managers are trying to preserve their jobs, and with the insecurity of both of their positions, they won’t take any excessive risks. Manchester United will win simply due to having a bit more quality in their squad.

However, it won’t be convincing …
