Woking invite Hartlepool to The Laithwaite Community Stadium in this Matchday 5 of the Vanrama National League clash.
Woking’s performances have been up and down in the National League over the last five years, finishing from 20th to 5th. They will aim to reach the Playoff places once again after a disappointing season last year. The 2023/24 season saw them end the campaign in 17th place with 15 wins, 21 losses and 10 draws, totalling 55 points.
The Cardinals haven’t gotten off to the best of starts this season, losing both of their first two games 1-0 and 0-2 against Altrincham and Gateshead respectively. They have picked up the maximum of six points from their last two games after beating Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 at home and Ebbsfleet United 0-3 on the road in Saturday’s fixture..
Hartlepool were relegated into the National League two season ago after finishing second from bottom in the 22/23 season. Last year they had a comfortable 12th place spot secured but they will need to make it to at least the Playoff places to try and achieve their target of promotion. They have ambitions of making it back to the EFL and this match is great for them to try and do so against a that has not played in the National League for 10 years.
After four games, Hartlepool are currently in 6th place, two wins and two draws, the same as Woking. That two wins they have achieved are a good indication for this match as both of those victories were 0-1 wins away from The Suit Direct Stadium, just like they are in this game against Woking.
Manager Darren Sarll will want a better performances then those draws as in the game against Southend United they were reduced to 10 men due to a red card and in the game verses Wealdstone they left it until 90+8 to score their equaliser.
Our betting experts have gone with Under 2.5 Goals. From the first four games in the National League, Woking have scored less than three goals in three matches and Hartlepool have actually yet to score over that amount. We predict that this will remain the case in this match as both sides haven’t properly shaken off the rust from the summer break just yet.
Through our bookmakers you can get odds as good as 4/5 via Betfred. Provided a £10 stake is placed, you could see winnings of £18.
UK viewers will be able to catch this game on National League TV.
