Whilst most of the higher leagues in the English footballing pyramid have players all over the place because of the International Break, the National League is still up and running with Woking inviting Wealdstone to The Laithwaite Community Stadium on Tuesday night.
Woking Woking’s performances have been up and down in the National League over the last five years, finishing from 20th to 5th. They will aim to reach the Playoff places once again after a disappointing season last year. The 2023/24 season saw them end the campaign in 17th place with 15 wins, 21 losses and 10 draws, totalling 55 points.
The Cardinals have had a decent start to this season, currently hold up in 12th place after the first seven games. It looked like it was going to be a rough season in store just a month ago, losing both of their first two games 1-0 and 0-2 against Altrincham and Gateshead respectively. They have picked up some momentum since then, earning 10 points from their last five games after beating Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 at home, Ebbsfleet United 0-3 on the road, a tense 3-2 victory against Hartlepool and then in their most recent game on Saturday they took a singular point from a goalless draw against Braintree Town.
Wealdstone have been struggling in the National League for a few seasons now, unable to making it into the top half of the table. Back in the 2019/20 season Wealdstone were crowned champions of the National League South, receiving automatic promotion but since them they have finished in 19th, 16th, 13th and 16th again in the National League standings. It has been seven games, but they are currently on course for another poor season, with the possibility of being relegated as they sit in 22nd place.
The Stones kicked off their season with three consecutive defeats, 2-1 to Dagenham & Redbridge, 0-1 to Oldham and 0-1 to Sutton United. It then got slightly better when they picked up their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Hartlepool and then even better with a 1-0 win against AFC Fylde for their first win of the campaign the following week. Back to slightly negative ways and Wealdstone were sharing points again, this time a 1-1 draw with Solihull Moors and Saturday had them lose 0-2 to York City. After all those matches, they have accumulated five points with one win, four losses and two draws.
Our betting experts have gone with a Draw. We feel it will be the same outcome as what happened in the last meeting between these two sides. Including that last match, there have been three draws when Woking and Wealdstone have played each other, and we could see it happening for a fourth time.
