Woking vs Yeovil Town

An underperforming Woking have a chance to turn their fortunes around when they welcome 11th placed Yeovil Town to the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

Sitting in 18th place themselves, Woking fans have had precious little to cheer about so far this season, and with just one goal in their last four games, have had little opportunity to take points away from games. However, that one goal came in a win over Boston, and if they can repeat that one goal performance against Yeovil things will start to look a lot more positive.

As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.

Key Statistics

  • Woking have scored one goal in their last five league games, although they bagged four in an EFL trophy game against Southampton's academy.
  • In beating Boston, Woking won their first league game since September 12th against Wealdstone.
  • Yeovil have won two of their last five league games, despite scoring one goal in their last three.
  • Yeovil have failed to win in their last two meetings with Woking.

Woking Preview

Woking Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): William Jaaskelainen (GK); Adam Chicksen, Max Dyche, Timi Odusina, Dion Kelly-Evans; Jamie Andrews, Olatunji Akinola; Deon Moore, Alan Judge, Matthew Ward; Charley Kendall.

So far Woking have been doing just enough to hover outside the relegation zone. Sitting on 21 points, two ahead of 21st Maidenhead, they have been far from impressive, but have been effective against lower ranked teams.

However, they will want to return to the form they showed in the 2022/23 season, where they finished fourth, losing out in the play-offs. Regressing down to 17th last season, they are on a trend of decline.

However, a win here could change the trend. It would provide a major morale boost to the squad, and in beating a top half side, Woking would have new found belief that they can contend with teams right up the table.

Yeovil Town Preview

Yeovil Town Predicted Lineup (4-5-1): Oliver Wright (GK); James Plant, Alex Whittle, Charlie Cooper, Jake Wannell, Pedro Borges; Kofi Shaw, Brett McGavin, Morgan Williams, Michael Smith; Aaron Jarvis.

Yeovil had been on a good run in recent times, but things turned around for them quickly two weeks ago. Losing at home to Halifax, they then travelled to promotion favourites York City, losing 4-0 and losing two players to straight red cards.

Finn Cousin-Dawson and Dominic Bernard wil miss this game as a result of their suspensions, and Yeovil will have to rely on squad depth. Not only will they be missing two key players, their morale will also have taken a hit from such a humbling defeat, and they need a strong mentality to recover ahead of this one.

However, they know that with a win they could move to within two points of the play-off spots. There is certainly incentive, but the outcome of this one looks to be hanging in the balance.

Woking vs Yeovil Town Betting Tip

With Woking struggling to find consistency, Yeovil have the onus going into this one, and it would certainly be against the odds if they didn’t come away with a win.

We are backing a Yeovil win, while Woking look set to slide further down the table.

Woking vs Yeovil Town Final Prediction

Woking 1-2 Yeovil Town

Yeovil were on track to steal a point from table toppers Barnet in midweek, only stopped by a late Danny Collinge winner. It was a good performance, and they will want to bring that level into the game against a much less superior side.
