Propping up the rest from the bottom of the table, Wolves would have been hoping for a winnable game with the prospect of easy points at this stage of their season.
Unfortunately, due to their lack of control over the fixtures list, they face champions of the last four seasons Manchester City to continue their exceptionally tricky opening run of games.
Manchester City, though unbeaten, lie second behind Arne Slots slick Liverpool team, and will be hoping to pile on the pressure with a win at the Molineux on Sunday.
As kick-off approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of the game.
Wolves Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Sam Johnstone (GK); Rayan Ait-Nouri, Toti Gomes, Craig Dawson, Nelson Semedo; Andre, Mario Lemina; Matheus Cunha, Joao Gomes, Pable Sarabia; Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Despite their dire league position and accompanying form, Wolves will not help but feel a little hard done by in the early stages of the season. They have had a nightmarish start facing european contenders Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Brighton, Liverpool, Aston Villa and an in-form Nottingham Forest.
No one expected them to pick up considerable points from these games, and after their daunting clash with City this weekend, their fixtures ease considerably, and provide them with the chance to finally kick start their season.
In Wolves’ unexpected home win against City last season, Craig Dawson pocketed Erling Haaland and limited him to one shot, form he will need to repeat if Wolves want to emerge from the game with any amount of respectability.
Manchester City Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Ederson (GK); Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Rico Lewis; Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic; Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva; Erling Haaland.
Manchester City have started their bid to win an unprecedented fifth Premier League in succession as virtually everyone expected, unbeaten after seven games, and looking menacing.
However, they are looking uncharacteristically unsure at the back, and have kept just three clean sheets all season, with two of these coming in the Champions League. With their current defensive form, Wolves are likely to get at least one, but they will struggle to outscore City thanks to their attack, arguably the best in the world.
Erling Haaland already has two hat tricks this season, and will be eyeing up this game as an opportunity to bag another one, while Bernardo Silva has been Citys’ creative spark this season, making three assists and existing as a constant menace to opposing defenses.
It is hard to look past a Manchester City win here, even more so considering their rock solid away form.

Historical Head to Head - Wolves: 5. Drawn: 1. Manchester City: 14.
The result of this game is relatively elementary. Man City will pick up a routine win, and immediately put pressure on Liverpool to get a result at home to Chelsea later on.
Wolves will just have to keep their heads down and come out of it with some respectability. There will be goals in both halves, but none of them will be on Wolves’ half of the scoreboard.
Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
A clean sheet and three goals for City would do nicely for Pep Guardiola. Haaland hasn’t scored in two games, and City haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league since their opening day win against Chelsea - both streaks should end this weekend.
