League one has been great watching this season, probably due to the newfound quality to the league, and it’s certainly exciting to bet on.
We’re taking a look at Saturday’s action, as Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham host Nigel Clough’s Mansfield Town.
Whilst Wrexham started the season flying, they’ve tailed off a bit and now sit 4th in the table. Just one space below, Mansfield occupy 5th.
Wrexham Predicted Line-up - Arthur Okonkwo; James McClean, Thomas O’Connor, Dan Scarr, Max Cleworth, Ryan Barnett; Elliot Lee, George Dobson, Oliver Rathbone; Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer
Wrexham have turned heads once more, as they’re battling for their third successive promotion, something I certainly didn’t expect.
Until their loss to Birmingham, they looked completely unstoppable, but have trailed off slightly following their first loss.
Elliot Lee has scored four from midfield already, so he’ll be looking to add a fifth.
Mansfield Town Predicted Line-up - Christy Pym; Jordan Bowery, Adedeji Oshilaja, Bailey Cargill; Elliot Hewitt, Keanu Baccas, George Maris, Stephen McLaughlin; Aaron Lewis; Will Evans, Lee Gregory
Another promoted team, and another team looking for consecutive promotions. Mansfield have really impressed me this year, I gave them less of a chance than Wrexham.
They really impressed in their 2-1 win over Wigan, as well as their 1-1 draw with table topping Birmingham City.
These two sides have met 20 times since 2005. Of their meetings, Wrexham have won ten, and Mansfield have won five.
Five matches have resulted in a draw.
29th March 2024 - Wrexham 2-0 Mansfield - League Two
4th November 2023 - Mansfield 1-2 Wrexham - FA Cup
3rd October 2023 - Mansfield 0-0 Wrexham - League Two
20th April 2013 - Mansfield 1-0 Wrexham - National League
4th April 2013 - Wrexham 2-1 Mansfield - National League
Whilst Wrexham did look seriously dangerous at the start of the season, they’ve trailed off a bit. With no win in their last three, the wheels could be falling off for the Disney+ stars.
Mansfield however, look a team who are ready to go far. They’ve really started to look like a side who could seriously challenge for promotion to the Championship.
Overall we think the best bet to place for this game would be Mansfield Town to win, backed up by our research.
Odds of 18/5 on BetFred mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £46 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Wrexham 1-2 Mansfield Town
Mansfield are smashing it, and will leapfrog their opponents in the table.
The night before, Watford host Oxford United.
