Reading have had an unexpectedly strong start to the season. Holding the star-studded Birmingham City to a 1-1 draw on the opening day wasn’t too bad for a statement. But to then win convincingly against QPR for the next game was a very strong sign. Some wrote Reading off before the season had even begun due to their financial issues, but we think they’ll deliver once more, this time away to Wrexham.
The last time these sides met was in 2001. So it’s a bit tricky to rely on past meetings for this prediction. However, Reading did win 2-0 away from home in their last meeting.
So far this season, there’s been a bundle of goals from both of these teams. Reading have scored seven goals in their last three games, whilst Wrexham have managed five. Both of them have shown however, that at times their defence isn’t too reliable.
Wrexham’s most recent 0-0 draw against Bolton was a sign that sometimes the Hollywood side can’t score goals for fun. They also got dominated with possession (only 30%) and only managed half of the goal attempts that the opposition did.
