Midweek madness in the EFL returns next week as there are so many games which could have massive impacts on the League One table. One of those is this one, between two teams battling it out for an automatic promotion place.
Wycombe had a great run at the start of the season, and while they are still winning a lot of games, their form has slowed down a little bit as of late. Their last match was a 2-1 win over Exeter City, although they do play Blackpool before hosting Huddersfield on Tuesday.
Huddersfield have been a lot more solid recently, having not lost a league game since October. Last time out they drew very disappointingly against bottom side Burton at home. Michael Duff will be insisting that his side improve from that game otherwise they could slide down the table very quickly.
Wycombe Wanderers Predicted Lineup - Franco Ravizzoli; Daniel Harvie, Alex Hartridge, Joe Low, Jack Grimmer; Cameron Humphreys; Garath McCleary, Luke Leahy, Josh Scowen, Fred Onyedinma, Richard Kone
Wycombe Wanderers have an incredible team this season and are looking like very strong candidates for automatic promotion. They are the league’s top scorers by a long way and don’t look like slowing down anytime soon for the others below them to catch up.
Richard Kone is the main threat for them going forward, supported by Fred Onyedinma and Garath McCleary on the flanks. The 21-year-old striker has 12 goals in 24 matches so far this season.
Huddersfield Predicted Lineup - Jacob Chapman; Ollie Turton, Michal Helik, Tom Lees; Josh Koroma, Herbie Kane, Joe Hodge, Ben Wiles, Brodie Spencer; Bojan Radulovic, Callum Marshall
Huddersfield are a bit more defensively minded than Wycombe Wanderers who often like to leave themselves light at the back. The Terriers have at least a three man defence at all times which can be changed to a five back if under pressure.
Up top, Callum Marshall’s six goals this season have been enough in quite a few games for Huddersfield to walk away with three points, and if not, Ben Wiles can add a goal or two from midfield.
These two sides have met on just a handful of occasions throughout their histories, as Huddersfield have tended to be floating around the second tier of English football while Wycombe have only recently become a regular in the football league. In the last 10 years, they have only met twice, in the 2020/21 Championship season.
13th Feb 2021 - Huddersfield 2-3 Wycombe Wanderers - Championship
24th Nov 2020 - Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Huddersfield - Championship
Both sides are performing well this season, so this will be an exciting match up. Wycombe are a higher scoring side and will have the crowd behind them at home, but Huddersfield will have a strong defence, while the hosts may commit too many players forward.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for a Full Time Draw. Odds of 12/5 on Betfred means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £34.
(odds subject to change)
