This weekend sees all the big teams in the country enter the FA Cup as it is the long awaited 3rd round. Wycombe host Portsmouth on Friday night as both teams look to potentially go deep into England’s main cup competition.
Wycombe come into this game flying high in League One as they find themselves 2nd and just two points behind Birmingham City in 1st after a great start to the season under Matt Bloomfield that sees them well in the promotion race to the Championship. Portsmouth find themselves just outside the relegation zone joint on both points and goal difference with Hull in 22nd and joint on points with Cardiff in 23rd. After promotion from League One last year Pompey would be more than happy to finish the season 21st so long as they survive relegation.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Franco Ravizzoli, David Wheeler, Ryan Tafazolli, Alex Hartridge, Jack Grimmer, Josh Scowen, Matt Butcher, Fred Onyedinma, Cameron Humphreys, Gareth McCleary, Richard Kone
Wycombe have had a great start to the season so far, finding themselves well in the promotion race as they sit 2nd just behind title favourites Birmingham City on 51 points. They have had a mixed few results in their last 5 with 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss with the most recent results being a 1-1 draw at home to Blackpool. The Chairboys will be looking to their top scorer to help them through this game against Championship opposition, as Richard Kone will look to add to his 13 goal tally so far this season, supporting by the top assister and highest rated player in Cameron Humphreys.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Nicolas Schmid, Conor Ogilvie, Tom McIntyre, Robert Atkinson, Terry Devlin, Owen Moxon, Andre Dozzell, Abdoulaye Kamara, Callum Lang, Matt Ritchie, Christian Saydee
Portsmouth have struggled to find much form this season and find themselves right in the relegation battle, joint on points with third and second bottom. They have had more success at home recently, scoring 4 goals in both of their last home games against Coventry and Swansea however they have struggled with away form , most recently losing 1-0 at the Stadium of Light. Pompey have enjoyed the goals of Callum Lang this season, especially in that home game against Coventry where he scored all 4. Pompey will no doubt play a weaker team as they look to focus on the league and gain survival.
These teams have played each other 20 times in the past 15 seasons with Portsmouth seeing the most success with 8 wins to Wycombe’s 5, and 7 draws between the two.
The last five games have been split in favour of Portsmouth with 2 wins for them, 2 draws and 1 Wycombe win.

(odds subject to change)
Wycombe 1-0 Portsmouth
With Portsmouth’s poor away record and Wycombe in good form, we see there being a slight ‘upset’ with the League One team beating the Championship one.
