Last night Ryan Ledson lit up the EFL with a jaw-dropping strike from just inside his own half for Huddersfield Town against Luton Town, catching the keeper off his line and firing an audacious first-time shot into the net. The ball fell to him inside his own half after some good Huddersfield pressure, and without even thinking he hit it with some beautiful technique, which lifted it high and over the panicking keeper. Huddersfield went on to win this game 1-0 due to this absolute beauty ... and it was their only shot on target!

Argentina Vs England (1986)

What a goal! This beautiful run was deemed the 'goal of the century' by many, and for good reason. Maradona picks up the ball in his own half and leaves two players for dead instantly, then drives into the opponents' half, takes on three more, smoothly takes the ball past the keeper and slots it home. The control, the audacity, and the technique are all exceptional and leave you wanting to watch this goal over and over again.

You just knew he would feature at least once on this list. Champions League knockouts – who else would step up to the occasion? The cross comes in behind Ronaldo, but of course he has the audacity to try the overhead kick. He couldn't have met the ball with a cleaner strike. Buffon didn't even move! Not many could recreate this with the connection that Ronaldo got with the ball.

Now this isn't a strike from a distance or a crazy volley, but what this goal shows is one of the cleanest few touches and finishes that I have ever seen. A long ball sends Bergkamp in behind, who takes it down with ease in his stride, slips it past the defender and puts it past the keeper with the outside of his boot. All within seconds. This is amazing to watch, and trust me, I watched this goal quite a few times while making this list.

Not only is this goal an amazing strike to watch, but the occasion on which he scored this adds so much. To pull of a strike like this in the Champions League final adds so much to this! The ball is falling to the Frenchman from quite high, but he remains calm and waits to hit the ball perfectly, and he does exactly that. An absolutely amazing strike to watch, which is more than deserving to make this list.

Now this strike is certainly the most obscure on the list. Joe Hart attempts to clear the ball outside the box with his head; however, Zlatan had other ideas... He takes one look at the ball coming over his head and hits one of the most audacious strikes in history! The legend hits an overhead kick from outside the box with one of the sweetest connections I have ever seen. Who else but Zlatan...

This goal right here is just pure confidence, which Henry completely justifies. The ball is rolled into him with his back facing the goal, yet he decides to flick it up and hit a beautiful volley right into the far corner from the outside of the box. The keeper didn't even move; even he had no idea what had just happened. To do this in such a big game, with such a quick touch and strike, is something only a select few could pull off. The technique on this strike is crazy and a great watch.

Free kicks always make for a great watch, but not many are as good as this one. I'm pretty sure that most of you will have seen this strike before, but that doesn't take away from this beauty. This is one of those goals that you need to watch from behind the ball; the technique on show is just too good! To hit the ball with the outside of the boot and whip it around the wall and into the far corner is just sensational. Just one of football's greatest ever strikes, yet also one of the most aesthetically pleasing goals ever!

As a Liverpool fan myself, this was always going to be number one! This goal quite literally defies physics as it flies into the back of the net. Now Thiago was one of the most aesthetically pleasing players to watch in the modern game; however, this goal is the clear highlight of this. The ball falls to him on the edge of the box, and he hits the sweetest volley I have ever seen. The ball somehow stays in the air the whole time, despite dipping down and coming back up as it rifles past the keeper. A very deserving number one spot.
