Finishing 10th, and beating the likes of Man United, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest along the way, Brentford can now safely consider themselves an established top flight club - something that other promoted sides have spectacularly failed to do over the last few years.
Stability in the top flight is a hard thing to come by - Brighton are the only other side to have earned promotion and stayed in the Premier League ever since, so the Bees are keeping good company. However, it is now crucial that they build on this stability - they come into the new season after a summer of significant change, and it is vital that they limit the impact of these changes by moving smartly in the transfer market.
Achieving a Carabao Cup quarter-final appearance alongside their top half league finish, Brentford are gradually turning into a banana skin for the top sides - on their day, they are virtually unplayable, and if they continue to work to the model of the last five seasons, things can only get better for the West London club.

When we mentioned there has been change at Brentford over the summer, we weren’t lying. Thomas Frank, Brentford head coach of six and a half years, departed for the cursed seat at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Taking a gamble, Brentford promoted set-piece coach and former Northern Ireland international Keith Andrews from within, rather than looking at out of contract options or poaching from another club.
Though he has no managerial experience, Andrews has already made a significant impact on the way the Bees play - his set-piece routines made Brentford one of, if not the most dangerous side in the league from dead ball situations, an aspect of the game that is vital to Premier League security. However, with experience a sought after trait and important to integrating yourself fully into Premier League management, both Bees and neutral fans will have be keeping a close eye on his progress, particularly during their opening few matchdays.
Caiomhin Kelleher
It may be an unusual choice to pick a goalkeeper over the likes of Mikkel Damsgaard and Yoane Wissa, but there is method behind the madness. Over the last five years or so, we have seen Kelleher thrive between the sticks for Liverpool, a reliable, confident, cool customer when called upon - his performances have won the Reds trophies.

But he has only ever played a bit-part role for the club. We have seen it countless times - as soon as Alisson returns from whatever ailment he has been suffering, Kelleher is relegated back to his spot on the bench, never quite doing enough to oust the Brazilian number one.
Now, for the first time in his career, he will have the chance to make the number one spot his own, and Premier League fans the world over will undoubtedly be curious to see how handles such regular game time at Brentford, having made just 67 appearances across six seasons at Liverpool.
This has the potential to be one of the standout moves of the summer, but Kelleher must be able to stand-up to the increased scrutiny his performances receive.
Brentford are a very likeable team - they have produced some serious stars since their arrival on the Premier League scene, recycle their kits for multiple seasons to promote environmental awareness, and still boast some superb talent in their squad dispite countless outgoings this summer - but it is this final point that could well hurt them this season.
Though Andrews inherit's a more than capable squad, their outgoing transfers appear to be far from finished. Mark Flekken, Christian Norgaard and Bryan Mbeumo have all moved to high-profile sides, and with the likes of Wissa and Damsgaard being admired from afar, the Bees' risk losing five of their best performers from last season. Had they been deprived of two or three, replacing them would have been less of a challenge, but replacing almost half of their starting eleven contains all sorts of pitfalls - it is a similar issue that newly promoted teams come up against almost every year.
And that puts Brentford in an interesting position - though an established top flight side, the Bees enter the new season with a new manager lacking any experience, and a team potentially lacking any star (outfield) player. Of course, there is still time left in the transfer window, but should the outstanding Wissa leave, and the club fail to bring in a suitable replacement, goals will be few and far between - Premier League football has a nasty way of punishing a lack of intent.
