Being back at this level should suit him and he has some Premier League experience behind him now. He is playing for one of the promotion favourites so chances should not be in short supply - a notable contender who you can understand being pegged as the favourite.

Adam Armstrong (Southampton) @ 9/1

Archer faces competition from teammate Adam Armstrong for this honour. He was deemed surplus to requirements at St Mary's last year in the Premier League but back in the Championship, he is going to be a huge asset for them.

When the Saints were promoted two seasons ago, Armstrong bagged 21 goals in the regular campaign, and he may be set for another fruitful spell in the second tier. The 28-year-old has scored 80 goals in 248 appearances at this level and that experience should serve him well this time around.

Patson Daka (Leicester City) @ 10/1

Leicester City striker Patson Daka contributed seven goals in 20 matches for the Foxes when they won the Championship two seasons ago. Question marks remain whether he will still be a Leicester player come the end of the transfer window but it is believed Marti Cifuentes would like to keep hold of him.

Jay Stansfield (Birmingham City) @ 10/1

Jay Stansfield became both Birmingham City's and League 1's record signing last summer for a fee up to around £15m with add-ons. It put a target on his back but he still provided 19 goals in the league last term, albeit 10 of them came from open play.

The truth is he was targeted by defenders, who often doubled up on him to try and nullify his threat. He has shown his talent in the Championship, having contributed 12 goals at this level with the Blues in a team that was relegated. He should do okay in a stronger team now that he's back.

George Hirst (Ipswich Town) @ 10/1

With Liam Delap gone, there will be a lot of responsibility on George Hirst's shoulders for Ipswich Town. He is a big forward who holds the ball up well and helps bring teammates into play.

The forward has struggled for injuries but if he is kept fit, he could have a huge say in the Golden Boot race. He netted seven goals in 26 Championship appearances for the Tractor Boys in 2023/24.

Ross Stewart (Southampton) @ 12/1

Southampton striker Ross Stewart is a talent who is a capable goalscorer. His first Championship season saw him bag 13 goals in 10 outings for Sunderland. His biggest issue is injuries, so for that reason he is someone to avoid in this particular market.

Sammie Szmodics (Ipswich Town) @ 12/1

Sammie Szmodics was the surprising Golden Boot winner two seasons ago with Blackburn Rovers (27 goals), which subsequently earned him a move to Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

The Republic of Ireland attacker contributed four goals in 20 games in the top flight last term, but if he can return to the second tier in the form he had at Rovers, there could be some excellent value in this price.

Kyogo Furuhashi (Birmingham City) @ 14/1

Birmingham raised eyebrows when they announced the signing of former Celtic man Kyogo Furuhashi last month. The Japanese forward struck 85 goals in 165 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys in Green.

A failed move to Rennes in January, in which he played just six times, has left him wanting to prove himself again. He brings Champions League experience to St Andrew's and at 30 years of age, is deemed the finished product.

Tyrese Campbell (Sheffield United) @ 16/1

Tyrese Campbell contributed 11 goals in 36 games for Sheffield United last season and new boss Ruben Selles might be able to get more out of the front man. Kieffer Moore is set for Wrexham so Campbell looks likely to be the Blades' main man up top this term.

He's surrounded by a number of creative talents so chances are unlikely to be in short supply. Another player who may offer great value in this market.

Mihailo Ivanovic (Millwall) @ 16/1

Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic has been getting plenty of backing in the past week as his price dropped from 28/1, to 20/1 and now 16/1. The Serbian caught the eye last year as he bagged 12 goals in 37 league appearances.

The 20-year-old looks to have a promising career ahead of him and there are clubs already sniffing around, according to reports. If he stays at The Den, it will be huge for the Lions, who will be pushing for the play-offs this season - with Ivanovic right at the heart of it.

Josh Sargent (Norwich City) @ 16/1

Norwich forward Josh Sargent has 44 goals across the past three Championship campaigns, and it will be a huge coup for the Canaries if they can somehow keep hold of him this summer.

A proposed move to Wolfsburg collapsed in recent weeks, while Premier League outfit Burnley are thought to be mulling over a move. Sargent is fantastic at this level and had it not been for injury breaks in the last two seasons, he'd likely already have a Golden Boot to his name.

If he remains at Carrow Road, or in the Championship, and remains injury free. He could prove to be an excellent bet at 16/1.
