Every Premier League Retained List Revealed

It's a time in the footballing calendar year that the Football Manager players amongst us know and love very well - the day in which teams across the nation unveil the list of players being let go for free at the end of their contracts.

With the EFL sides spanning three divisions and 72 clubs having revealed their retained lists last month, the turn of the Premier League has now come to pass.

With some big clubs involved and some big names now in search of a new employer, here is every single name released from the first team of each club in the Premier League following the 2025/26 season - can you spot any bargain signings for your club?

Club-by-Club Released Players

Arsenal

None

Now, of course, we should clarify that a fair few players are leaving Arsenal this month across the academy, scholars and women's team. On the lattermost point, the departures of two club legends in Katie McCabe and Beth Mead will sting the hearts for many a Gunner.

However, there will be no departures from the men's first team to speak of on a free transfer this summer.

Aston Villa

None

This is off to a good start, isn't it?

No first-teamers are looking likely to be released from Villa Park this summer, which may explain why Aston Villa have not made any announcement of their retained list like most other clubs.

They have opted against making the loans of Harvey Elliott and Douglas Luiz permanent, meaning the only permanent contract that is supposed to be expiring this summer is that of Ross Barkley. However, with Wolves and Coventry expressing an interest in his services, it would be prudent of Villa to use the option of an automatic one-year extension that they hold in his contract to keep a say in negotiations.

Bournemouth

None

...Was this pointless?

Once again, no first-teamers from the men's team at Bournemouth have been named as released this month. Not yet, anyway.

Last month, it was confirmed that popular Argentine defender Marcos Senesi would be leaving the club at the end of his contract with a move to Tottenham expected. However, Bournemouth's squad announcement dictates that the 29-year-old has been offered a new deal, despite them confirming in full that he was off. Also offered new terms is veteran backup goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Brentford

As well as Reiss Nelson returning to Arsenal from his cross-capital loan, 23-year-old midfielder Ryan Trevitt will leave the GTech Community Stadium after a six-year innings, where he went out on loan multiple times and made five first-team appearances for the Bees.

He spent last season on loan with Wigan Athletic, making 12 league appearances and contributing one assist.

Brighton

Four popular figures will be leaving Brighton this summer, including club legend Solly March.

The 31-year-old winger will leave the south coast outfit at the end of June after a glittering stay with the club - he has spent his entire senior career thus far with the Seagulls, making 300 appearances along the way whilst helping the club out of the Championship and onto Premier League stability and European qualification.

Defender Webster has been left unable to make a single Premier League appearance this term following a nasty knee injury, but he remains a popular figure amongst Brighton fans. The former Bristol City defender has enjoyed a seven-year spell on the south coast, making 158 appearances along the way.

Joel Veltman is another popular defensive figure that has bowed out from the Amex. Now aged 34, the Dutchman spent six years on the south coast and made 191 appearances for the club including a further 24 in the Premier League this season. The former Ajax man, like Webster, will depart Fabian Hurzeler's Brighton squad and leave a gap to fill.

Finally, James Milner is off from Brighton and the game in general. The Premier League icon will be retiring this summer at the age of 40 after an outrageous display of longevity in his 24-year senior career. He broke Gareth Barry's record for the most Premier League appearances of all time last season, and bows out of the game as a true cult hero.

Chelsea

Four departures in general have been confirmed by the Blues this summer, including academy prospects Brodi Hughes and Richard Olise, with two of them having featured in the first team in their careers.

Rak-Sakyi made four senior showings for the East London giants, making his debut in the 24/25 campaign in the UEFA Conference League against Noah, before making a further three appearances across the continent.

Tauriainen joined Chelsea in 2020 as a Finnish youth international, and made his first squad appearance on the bench for the Blues in their League Cup final defeat to Liverpool in 2024. He made his first team debut against Leeds in the FA Cup soon after, and then made his Premier League bow later in the season against Tottenham.

Coventry City

Frank Lampard's Sky Blues are finally back where they belong, but there will be no place in their first Premier League squad in over two decades for two players in particular.

The release of Jamie Allen is the more particular of the two. The former Burton Albion and Rochdale midfielder made just four Championship starts under Lampard last season to bring the curtain down on a seven-year spell in the West Midlands, in which he made exactly 200 appearances and scored 12 goals, the last of which came in a 3-1 win over Watford in the league back in October 2025.

Former Chelsea prospect Collins joined Coventry in 2023 after a spell as the first-choice with Barnsley, and made 31 league appearances in his maiden campaign. His role diminished over the next season, making 15 appearances in all competitions before spending the season just gone on loan with Burton Albion.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace, as of 11:35AM BST on the 10th of June 2026, have not published their official retained list as of yet. However, it is widely believed that the three named talents above will be on the released side of the form.

The Eagles have had an enjoyable yet chaotic campaign to say the least. Managerial and board unrest has seen Oliver Glasner leave his post as manager over at Selhurst Park, whilst star striker Jean-Philippe Mateta made headlines with his public attempts of forcing a move to Milan in January. Furthermore, Marc Guehi left for Manchester City for a pitiful sum compared to his talent, but all was forgotten and forgiven as they lifted the UEFA Conference League in May, marking their third trophy in two seasons and a first ever in Europe at the first time of asking.

A huge part of this success was the arrival of industrious Japanese midfielder Kamada back in 2024. Arriving on a free from Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, the 29-year-old made 89 appearances for the club and was a key part to their success. He has not officially been released, and it would be a surprise if he is, but the signs and reports are all suggesting that the midfielder will not be signing a new deal.

The same is said for Colombian midfielder Jefferson Lerma, who has also been incredibly popular in his years with the club. The 31-year-old has reportedly turned down a new contract with the club and is looking likely to make his way out the exit door with Valencia circling.

Nathaniel Clyne will also pull on the heartstrings with a likely exit at the end of the month. The 35-year-old defender signed a one-year extension at the start of the season, making a further 10 Premier League appearances for his boyhood club whom he returned to in 2020 after a stint with Liverpool.

UPDATE - The Premier League have now confirmed the full release list for all 20 clubs at time of writing, with only Clyne named on the list for Palace, indicating that Kamada and Lerma are either staying, or remain locked in talks over their futures.

Everton

As confirmed last month, legendary defender Seamus Coleman will end his incredible stay in Merseyside at the end of the month.

The 37-year-old right-back is one of the greatest bargain buys in Premier League, and perhaps football, history. Signing from Sligo Rovers for just £60k back in 2009, the Ireland international made a stunning 435 appearances for the club and was named in the Premier League Team of the Season in 2014.

It is unknown whether or not Coleman, who enjoyed one game as an interim manager for Everton after the departure of Sean Dyche, will continue his playing career elsewhere or make a move to the dugout.

Popular midfielder Gueye will also leave the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer, after the industrious engine of the team failed to come to terms with a new contract from the Toffees.

Fulham

Three names will be leaving Craven Cottage this summer, as confirmed 11 days ago by the club.

The most notable of the three is, of course, Mexico striker and club favourite Raul Jimenez, who has already been announced as making an emotional return to Wolverhampton Wanderers to aid in their attempts at an immediate Premier League return. The 35-year-old played in all but two of Fulham's Premier League affairs last term, netting nine goals along the way.

German attacking midfielder Benda joined Fulham from Swansea in 2023, and made four first-team appearances for the club whilst taking on loans to Millwall and Feyenoord last season. He'll be joined in the exit door by Colombian midfielder Devan Tanton, a 22-year-old who made just one senior appearance for the Cottagers and spent half of last season on loan in League Two with Chesterfield.

Hull City

Hull City's return to the Premier League was one that nobody saw coming, given their transfer embargo and fight against relegation the year prior.

Only one senior name has been confirmed as leaving the Tigers this summer, that being English winger Harry Vaughan who spent last season on loan in Ireland with Bohemians. He made 19 senior appearances for Hull since joining from Oldham in 2023.

A big fix will be needed for Hull, given the loan players that are heading back this summer - the loan deals for Toby Collyer, Joe Gelhardt, Amir Hadžiahmetović, Yū Hirakawa, Lewis Koumas and John Lundstram will end on 30 June.

Ipswich Town

There could be a few faces out the door on a free for Kieran McKenna's Tractor Boys this summer, with the one confirmed name so far being popular forward Conor Chaplin.

The 29-year-old striker has been a big figure for Ipswich in previous years, although that role has diminished in the modern day. Few in East Anglia will forget is 22/23 exploits, wherein he netted a stunning 29 goals for the club as they escaped out of League One before scoring another 13 to help them complete a double-promotion to the Premier League, where he scored the one-and-only top-flight goal of his career. He spent last season on loan with boyhood club Portsmouth, though he struggled for form with Pompey.

Wes Burns is a big question mark here. Kieran McKenna stated that Burns has earned the right to decide his own future after a glittering five-year stint at right-wing for Ipswich, but no confirmation of a new contract has yet been reached. With Ipswich running out of time to announce their retained list, the Welshman's future remains up in the air.

The same can be said for the final three. Humphreys spent last season on loan with Huddersfield Town whilst an ACL injury left Townsend out for the most of the season. Button was signed just to add some depth and experience to the goalkeeping ranks, and all three players are in the final days of their Portman Road contracts.

Leeds United

Good on you Leeds - they published their retained list as I was writing this article! Thanks lads.

The first departure from Elland Road this summer is infamous goalkeeper Meslier. The 26-year-old Frenchman has made 205 appearances for the club since joining them back in 2020 from FC Lorient, but came under huge fire for his form and comedic stream of errros as the Lilywhites earned promotion back to the Premier League in 2025. He was not trusted to make a single first-team appearance for the club last season, and will leave for free at the end of the month.

Academy product Sam Byram will also be heading away from his boyhood club for the second time in his career. The 32-year-old returned to Elland Road after spells with Norwich and West Ham and helped guide the club back into the Premier League, where he came off the bench in Leeds' final home game of the season to say a final goodbye to supporters.

Karl Darlow is expected to leave Elland Road as well this month, but the club have confirmed that he remains in talks over his future with no definitive answer made yet.

Liverpool

By far the most star-studded list of releases in the league, Liverpool will be waving goodbye to two club legends, a star performer and a memorable academy product all in one summer.

The loss of the 'Egyptian King' Mohamed Salah is one that will bring a tear to the eye of everyone on the red side of Merseyside. The 33-year-old attacker netted an outlandish 257 goals in 442 games for the Reds in his glittering Anfield career, where he lifted the Champions League as well as two Premier League titles. After a fallout with outgoing manager Arne Slot, Salah reached an agreement to tear up his £400k-a-week contract a year early - the Dutchman's sacking has not changed this outcome.

Another legendary figure from Jurgen Klopp's dominant Liverpool side is Scotland left-back Robertson, who has already agreed a move to Tottenham ahead of the new season, with his current focusses lying with Scotland at the World Cup. The former Hull City left-back was probably the best in the world during his prime, and will now be heading to London ahead of a new adventure in his later career.

Konate has enjoyed a strong Liverpool career in his five-year-stint, making 183 appearances whilst helping them win last season's Premier League title after joining from RB Leipzig under Klopp. He was unable to come to terms on a new big-money contract this summer, meaning a move to Real Madrid appears only days away.

Though not a departure that will have any meaningful impact on the squad, Rhys Williams will leave Liverpool with nothing but well-wishes from the fans. Few will forget the injury-ravaged Liverpool side that Klopp had to contend with, leading to a great number of academy products being entrusted with senior responsibilities. Williams, in a defensive pairing with Nat Phillips, was one of these players which may have earned him the chance to stay at Liverpool until he was 25. This summer, though, he will depart.

Manchester City

We're going to have a free agent or two at this World Cup, it seems, with chosen England defender John Stones bringing the curtain down on a brilliant stint in Manchester.

Signed as a fresh-faced Everton prospect in 2016, the Barnsley academy product has enjoyed a glittering decade under Pep Guardiola where he was morphed into one of the best defenders in the league, whilst also showing his chops as a fullback and a defensive midfielder. He won everything there is to win in the game at the Etihad Stadium, and now leaves as a 32-year-old with a World Cup to focus on and a new challenge on his horizon.

Another legend heading out the door (other than Guardiola himself) is iconic playmaker Bernardo Silva. Like Stones, the Portuguese star has had a glittering spell in Manchester with 460 appearances in his wake and a long list of trophies.

Manchester United

Three solid names making their way out of the red half of Manchester this summer, amongst them a modern-day club legend.

Casemiro's zero-to-hero story with the Red Devils is to be admired. A poor spell a couple of years ago led to calls from a certain someone that the Brazilian should retire. However, his incredibly performances this season led to a Team of the Season nomination and chants from fans for him to have 'one more year'. He is expected to join Lionel Messi and his list of footballing friends at Inter Miami.

Where did it all go wrong for Jadon Sancho? Once the named prospect on the tip of everyone's tongue, the former Dortmund star made his big-money move to Manchester United back in 2021, but it never seemed to go right for him. A good goal here and a splash of talent there, but managerial fallouts, poor form and a poor attitude have defined his career at Old Trafford, which has seen him go out on loan three times. He has won a European trophy for two years on the trot however, with Chelsea and Aston Villa, so fair enough.

Forgotten man Tyrell Malacia will end his hellish stint in England with him joining the former two on the release list this summer. He made 50 appearances for the club since joining in 2022, but a blend of undisclosed issues have seen him largely absent for the most recent years.

Newcastle United

A quartet of senior departures from Newcastle this month, led by the move to Wolverhampton Wanderers for Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle's Saudi-backed, money-spinning route back to the top of the Premier League was kick-started by a few key arrivals. Trippier's signing from Atletico Madrid was one of the most effective ones, and the 35-year-old right-back brings the curtain down on a brilliant stay in the North East after four years of service.

Ruddy and Targett were never expected to stay beyond this season anyway. The former signed a two-year-deal after leaving Birmingham City in 2024 to add experience and depth to the perennial third-choice goalkeeper role, and the latter spent last season on loan with Middlesbrough and played a key role in getting them to the playoff final against Hull, having made just 12 appearances for Newcastle in the two seasons prior.

Heartily named 'Krafthu' by fans, Emil Krafth is a not a big part of the modern Newcastle squad (one appearance in the Premier League in 2025/26), but his departure has still been wished well upon by the Magpies. He joined from Amiens in 2019 and made just over 100 appearances in his seven-year stint as an ever-reliable squad player.

Nottingham Forest

A double departure between the posts will likely lead to the thing that Forest love more than anything - signing goalkeepers.

You've got to go all the way back to 2010 to find the last season wherein the Reds didn't sign at least one goalkeeper in some capacity at the club. With Angus Gunn and Stefan Ortega both leaving this summer, you'd expect that streak to continue once more ahead of the 26/27 campaign.

Ortega is a surprising one, in truth. The German goalkeeper arrived on a deal to the end of the season from Manchester City back in January, and impressed in his role deputising for number-one choice Matz Sels. As such, when Sels returned from his injury troubles, Ortega was named as the number-one choice between the posts in Forest's European outings. It was expected that he would stay, but this has not come to pass.

Angus Gunn, however, was not expected to stay. The Scotland international has a World Cup to focus on before deciding his next club move, and he made just one appearance for the Reds with Sels going off injured in a game whilst John Victor was unavailable beforehand.

Veteran defender Willy Boly is also off. The giant Ivorian centre-back played just 91 minutes across two games for Forest under Ange Postecoglou's ill-fated time in charge - 90 against Swansea City in a shock League Cup exit, and one from the bench in Europe against Real Betis. Now aged 35, he was a popular player when in a first-team standing and signed a new deal at the start of this season to take him to now, where he will leave.

Sunderland

What a return to the Premier League Sunderland made last term, shocking the top flight with a glittering stream of showings that have seen the Black Cats qualify for the Europa League.

Bertrand Traore, the only Burkina Faso-born player to ever play in the Premier League, won't be there on the continent with them. He arrived on the cheap from Ajax at the start of the season and scored just one goal from nine starts, and will leave his Sunderland career as just one-season-strong.

Popular academy product Dan Neil was a sad announcement back in January, but one that felt understandable. Aged just 24, the midfielder has got his whole career still in front of him and has landed on both feet, joining Premier League returners Ipswich Town immediately upon his contract's expiry.

Now a Latvian international, former Tottenham prospect Cirkin has been a strong performer for Sunderland as they made it from League One to the top flight. He was signed at the start of their promotion year out of the third tier, and was rewarded for his longevity with eight Premier League appearances last season.

Finally, Niall Huggins is off as well - the former Leeds prospect spent last season on loan in League One with Wycombe, and made 29 appearances for the Black Cats overall.

Tottenham Hotspur

Just the one first-team departure from Tottenham's god-awful season in the Premier League last term.

Bissouma arrived with a lot of promise back in 2022, having impressed with his ascent through to prominence over at Brighton. He carried that over with him well to Tottenham four years ago, but his form and performances diminished along, apparently, with his attitude and knack for incidents away from the field. Still aged just 29 and holding prior qualities that haven't been seen for a while, Bissouma could make a good pickup for plenty of clubs this summer.
