08/06/24 12:48

A country that were once the dominant force in Europe, looking to get back to their best. Spain, ranked 8th in the world, will look to Luis de la Fuente to lead them back to European glory.

SQUAD:

Goalkeepers David Raya (Arsenal), Alex Remiro (Real Sociedad), Unai Simon (Athletic Bilbao)

Defenders Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Robin Le Normand (Real Sociedad), Nacho (Real Madrid), Daniel Vivian (Athletic Bilbao), Alex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen), Aymeric Laporte (Al Nassr), Jesus Navas (Sevilla), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea)

Midfielders Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad), Fabian Ruiz (PSG), Alex Baena (Villareal), Fermin Lopez (Barcelona), Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad), Pedri (Barcelona), Rodri (Manchester City)

Forwards Alvaro Morata (Atletico Madrid), Joselu (Real Madrid), Ayoze Perez (Real Betis), Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig), Ferran Torres (Barcelona), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao)

After impressing in the Premier League this season for Arsenal, it is David Raya who has earned the number one shirt for La Roja, despite Unai Simon remaining in the squad after being their number one for the past two major tournaments.

Alejandro Grimaldo is set to have a great tournament after an incredible season at Bayer Leverkusen, and should definitely be a player to look out for.

Despite being in a tough group alongside Croatia, Italy and Albania, you would expect Spain to get out of the group, with such a strong group of players.

GROUP FIXTURES

Saturday 15th June: Spain vs Croatia (17:00 BST) Thursday 20th June: Spain vs Italy (20:00 BST) Monday 24th June: Albania vs Spain (20:00 BST)

PLAYER TO WATCH

Whilst a lot of pressure will be on Manchester City midfielder Rodri to control games, it looks like the youngsters will dominate for La Roja this year, with all eyes on Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, who makes the squad at just 16 years old. His versatility of being able to play in midfield or the frontline gives him the opportunity to shine this summer.

PREDICTION

Despite missing a couple of their big name players like Gavi, I see Spain getting out of the group quite easily and making it as far as the semi-finals.
