What Are The Standout Teams To Look Out For?

Chelsea

In the early days of the season, it appears chaos could be the theme of Chelsea's campaign under Xabi Alonso.

The supremely talented attacking trio of Morgan Rogers, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer has thrived in the opening weeks, whilst defensively the Blues have looked shakey, conceding seven goals in the opening three games of the new Premier League season.

After impressing against Fulham and Brighton, collecting six points whilst scoring seven goals, the Blues fell to defeat for the first time under their new manager at the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal winning 2-1 in Gameweek 3, before Chelsea won a nine-goal thriller in midweek at Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup vs Leeds United, coming from 0-2 down to eventually win 6-3.

The ten goals conceded in four games across two competitions will concern Alonso, but if they can continue their strong goalscoring form, then Chelsea may find themselves winning more often than not.

And they'll need their attacking talent on top form once more this weekend, as they face Hull City at Stamford Bridge, who are yet to concede a goal on their return to the Premier League.

Liverpool

Just like Chelsea, Liverpool find themsleves at home this weekend, and after drawing their opening two matches against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, Andoni Iraola seems to have the cogs moving in the right direction at Anfield with two wins in a row, beating Ipswich comfortably at Portman Road before defeating Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Champions League opener.

The Reds face Fulham at Anfield at 3pm on Saturday in Gameweek 4, who have struggled so far under Alvaro Arbeloa. The Cottagers are just one of two sides in the Premier League to lose each of their three opening matches, and were defeated by Crystal Palace 2-3 at Craven Cottage during Gameweek 3.

With Liverpool beginning to hit form and Fulham low on confidence, Liverpool will see this weekend's fixture as a strong chance to continue their winning run.

Brighton & Hove Albion

It's fair to say not many teams in the Premier League have had a more action-packed beginning to the new season than Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls flew out the blocks in their opening game of the new season, going 4-0 up at home to Aston Villa before half-time, blowing away Unai Emery's team before being edged out in a thrilling seven-goal clash at Stamford Bridge the following week, before earning a point against an in-form Leeds back at the AMEX Stadium in Gameweek 3.

Fabian Hürzeler's side, despite suffering with injuries to key players during the beginning of the season have started well, and will fancy themselves to claim their first away win of the season as they travel to the midlands to take on Coventry CIty, who are still awaiting their first goal in the top flight since their promotion.

Who Should You Consider Captaining?

Morgan Rogers

Chelsea's new forward will need to do a lot to justify the £117 million price tag paid by the Blues to bring Morgan Rogers to West London, but there is no denying the England international has started strongly for Xabi Alonso's side.

Rogers opened the scoring against Arsenal with a fine finish in the opening minutes, and led Chelsea to their comeback Carabao Cup victory in midweek after coming off the bench, claiming an incredible four assists to help Chelsea turn the cup tie around.

In this form, Rogers will fancy himself to continue that form as Hull visit the Bridge.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City may face a tricky fixture this weekend as they make the short journey across Manchester for the derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford, but the Norwegian's record in this particular fixture makes for good reading for those deciding to captain the striker.

Haaland has eight goals against City's big rivals in seven appearences against the Red Devils, including a brace in the first derby of last season in a 3-0 win for the blue side of the city.

United will still be feeling the disapointment from last weekend's 2-2 draw at Everton, where Ainsley Maitland-Niles' 95th minute stunner denied Michael Carrick's team three points, and Haaland may sense a chance to continue his fine record in the Manchester derby after his brace gave City three points away in Porto on Tuesday night.

Alexander Isak

After a stop-start time at Anfield since his record-breaking move to Merseyside last summer, striker Alexander Isak seems to be hitting form in a Liverpool shirt.

The Swede grabbed his first goal of the new campaign on Gameweek 2 at home to Nottingham Forest, and followed it up with a brace against Ipswich to make it three goals in three in the Premier League.

Against a struggling Fulham, more goals could be on the way for the Premier League's most-expensive signing in history.

Should You Use Any Wild cards?

Whilst it may be tempting to use any of the wildcard chips available, caution must be taken given the early time in the season.

The Triple Captain could be considered an option for a Liverpool or Chelsea forward given their fixtures at home against newly promoted Hull and struggling Fulham respectively. However, it may be a smarter alternative to wait until later on in the season to play the all-important Triple Captain card.
