FPL Gameweek 3 Tips: Best Transfers, Captain Picks and Differentials for this Weekend

Fantasy Premier League has got us all in a chokehold right now. Mini-leagues, forfeits, chips, everyone is doing as much as they can to gain as many points as possible.

Two weeks in, the results have worked a charm for some but left others to crash and burn. With many people are already considering using their Wildcards!

Football Park is going to offer our best advice for the upcoming gameweek, advising you who to transfer in, and what players are a must-have. Fasten in, because there are only two days left until the weekly deadline.

Time to Use a Chip?

Whilst many are too hesitant to say goodbye to their Wildcard chip as early as Gameweek 3, there are plenty of other routes you can take to avoid using such an important strategy.

Why not try using the Free Hit chip instead? I know it only changes your team for one week, but it could be a good chance to free up some Liverpool and Arsenal defensive players ahead of their match on Sunday.

There has only been one clean sheet kept in the last eight meetings between these two sides mentioned, so their defensive players may not be likely to score high this week.

In return, you could attempt to replace them with a few differentials who have easier fixtures and are likely to score points, such as a potential Chelsea or Man City player like Cucurella or Aït-Nouri.

Alternatively, the Bench Boost chip could come in handy for this Liverpool vs Arsenal fixture, as it means that you can collect more points from your bench as well as the Liverpool and Arsenal players you have.

Despite a clean sheet not being likely for either team in this game, there are defenders for both sides who are more than capable of picking up attacking contributions.

Captaincy: Haaland vs Salah vs Pedro?

Erling Braut Haaland may be the safe pick for this weeks captaincy. The talisman has already scored two goals this season which came in Gameweek 1 and this week he prepares to face Brighton & Hove Albion.

Of course, Brighton are a fantastic team and the game is being played at The Amex. However, out of the headline players on FPL, Haaland is the one who has one of the easier fixtures. The forward can score against anyone, and you’d back him to score this weekend as well.

However, do not be shy to give Mohamed Salah the armband this week. Despite the Premier League App displaying a daunting red fixture mark, the Egyptian has an impeccable record against Arsenal.

Salah has netted 11 goals and grabbed four assists in the 16 Premier League matches he has played against the Gunners. With the game being played at Anfield, it makes his chances of scoring all the more likely.

Joao Pedro looks to be one of the best signings of the transfer window. The Chelsea forward was the joint-second highest point scorer in Gameweek 2, after he bagged a goal and two assists against West Ham.

This week, the Brazilian will face fellow West London club Fulham, at Stamford Bridge. Pedro has a huge opportunity in this game to keep his brilliant form flowing, making him a great option for your captaincy this week.

Who Should You Transfer In?

Although it is early days, I’m sure the majority of us have experienced some sort of injury issue in our teams, or perhaps a player leaving for another club, or maybe just a player who isn’t hitting the mark. But who should replace them?

I’m sure many were sceptical of the signing of Hugo Ekitike prior to the season. It has become very easy for new strikers to fall below the bar in the Premier League, but the new Liverpool striker certainly hasn’t.

With already two goals and one assist in the top flight this season, the Frenchman could be perfect to add to your team. Obviously, Arsenal is not the easiest team to score against, but should the Reds score, Ekitike is likely to contribute to it.

Do not sleep on Brennan Johnson either. The Spurs winger has scored in both of Tottenham’s opening two games, collecting 17 points on FPL. At £7.1 million in cost, he's a slightly pricier option than some, but far below the costs of stars like Salah and Mbeumo, both of whom are being outscored by the Welshman meaning he could be a great option for your midfield.

His side are playing Bournemouth at home this weekend, and it could be another chance to retain his scoring streak.

Seeking another cheap steal? Look no further than Jack Grealish. Everton’s new man tallied up two assists on his full debut against Brighton last weekend and at as little as £6.5 million, he could be a great addition, especially considering not many other people with have him.

The differential reached 11 points in Gameweek 2 and could be worth the risk if he keeps firing. Everton play Wolves away this weekend, who are a team still yet to claim a point in the Premier League, so Everton certainly have the upper hand.
