With the World Championship of Darts finishing just last week, the eight players competing in the Premier League have been confirmed.
With the best players in the world competing week in week out, we put together the players and their Premier League team comparison.
Here it is...
Luke Littler is currently the World No.1 and is the back-to-back reigning champion of the World. Now you may argue that Arsenal have not won anything in years, and you would be correct. But Arsenal and Littler aren't all that different. This season, every time Arsenal take to the pitch, you expect them to win and most instances, win comfortably. There isn't a tournament that Littler isn't the favourite, and with Arsenal still in every competition, both Arsenal and Littler could win it all.

They've won it all, dominating for the last few years with little competition. Both Humphries and City were at the peak of their powers until Littler and Arsenal came along. They've had their battles, with wins and losses, but remain one of the most feared competitors in their respective sports. Manchester City had a slow start to the season, represented by Humphries' quarter-final exit in the World Championship, but still sit hot on the tails of their rivals, fighting for that No.1 spot.
Now you may be confused as to why someone with the quality of van Veen has been compared to a struggling Crystal Palace? Well, both Gian and Palace have had the best year of their career, both picking up their first major trophies. Palace, of course, picked up the historic FA Cup in their 1-0 win over Man City in the summer. Van Veen picked up the European Championship with a dramatic 11-10 win over Humphries.

Both parties have won everything there is to win with periods of domination over the years. However, after a disappointing exit at the Grand Prix first round, this dip in form represents Liverpool's current season; they've struggled, experiencing the highs and the lows of the Premier League after just 20 games. Despite this, they still sit high up the table and, like van Gerwen, are still the favorites whenever they take to the field. Both MVG and Liverpool will be looking for a strong 2026 as they look for redemption.
Both have experienced the highest highs of their sports: Chelsea winning it all, and Price picking up the World Championship title back in 2020. He's been a dominant force on the circuit for years and always proves a tough test for everyone. A lot of people don't like him for his attitude, and this can align with Chelsea. Many opposing fans don't like Chelsea's moaning and spoiled attitude despite them winning it all. Both have had impressive 2025's with Chelsea winning the Club World Cup and Conference League and Price winning two titles - the Baltic Sea Open and the Poland Darts Masters. Both have won two titles on foreign soil.

Stephen Bunting and Newcastle were both winners in 2025, with the Carabao Cup and Bunting's six PDC titles. They both have some of the best supporters in their sports, with Newcastle known for their noise and Bunting being 'The People's Champ' (even if that is self-implied).
Respectively, they both challenge to be at the top but sometimes find themselves below expectations. Newcastle currently sits 9th in the Premier League, and Bunting is now ranked World No.7 after an extremely disappointing World Championship campaign.
Both have had success over the years, but have found themselves out of the Premier League for some years. Clayton is making his first appearance in the tournament since 2023, and Sunderland returned to the top flight after eight years out of it.
Sunderland have shocked everyone and are having an outstanding season, similar to Clayton who has performed magnificently and is now fifth in the World Rankings. Both parties are widely respected - Sunderland for their extreme levels of support and Clayton for his persona and ability to perform on the biggest stage.

Josh Rock finally had his breakthrough year after being on the verge for years, even winning the World Cup of Darts with Northern Ireland. Similarly, Aston Villa have been fighting in Europe for a few years now, but this season looks set to push Arsenal and City all the way in the title race. Both have had outstanding years and really solidified themselves at the top, competing for every title there is. The Premier League is unknown territory for Rock, and who knows what he'll produce. Villa have never been in the title race before and could pull off a shock if they continue to play at this high level.
There are so many names competing for the title in both sports, with massive amounts of quality all over the board. There will be shock results along the way, but one thing is for sure that we will be treated to some of the best Darts and Football the world has seen, with the best of the best fighting each other week in, week out. This is the Premier League.
