From Music Icons to Movie Stars: The Most Famous Tottenham Fans

It is always intriguing to discover what celebrities support different football clubs, but when it comes to them supporting Tottenham Hotspur it often leads to one question. Why?

Especially when it comes to famous stars from across the Atlantic, you would assume clubs such as Barcelona or Real Madrid, or Liverpool or Manchester United to be a lot more appealing to them due to respective histories. But it is Spurs fans who find themselves with world class following, with many of these celebrities supporting the club since childhood.

Without further ado, ranging from music icons to movie stars, Football Park takes a look at some of the most famous celebrities which support Tottenham Hotspur.

  • AJ Tracey – Music Icon
  • Adele – Music Icon
  • Sir Trevor McDonald – Newsreader and Journalist
  • JK Rowling - Author
  • Michael McIntyre - Comedian
  • Emma Raducanu – Tennis Star
  • Lord Alan Sugar – Businessman, Author, Political Advisor
  • John Cena – Actor and WWE Wrestler
  • Mark Wahlberg – Movie Star
  • Tom Holland – Movie Star

AJ Tracey

AJ Tracey certainly does not hide his love for the Lilywhites. The British rapper was put in a Spurs shirt by his father when he was younger and has not looked back. He even has a tattoo of the cockerel on his arm, displaying his commitment to the club.

He may be up there with one of the most dedicated celebrity fans on this list, bleeding Spurs literally. He has been seen regularly on the club’s X (previously Twitter) page, even appearing in a kit announcement video back in 2017. The 28-year-old even brings his love for Tottenham into his music, previously dedicating a song to then new signing Tanguy Ndombele.

Adele

Much like AJ Tracey, Adele’s love for Tottenham is not kept secret. The lifelong fan also happens to be one of the most successful singers in the industry of all-time. The music star also brought her love for the club and the area into music, naming her song, Hometown Glory after where she was born.

Adele also pops up and says Hello at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and is also a regular feature on the club’s X page as she continues to be nominated for Grammy awards.

Sir Trevor McDonald

More commonly recognised for his time as news presenter with ITV, he intrigues fans with why he supports the North London outfit. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, it is quite a surprise to many how he became so attached to Tottenham.

The NTA winner went onto talkSPORT saying how he used to listen into the games in the radio and started following the Lilywhites after their league and cup double in 1961. Luckily for Sir Trevor McDonald, he is one of only two fans on this list alive when they achieved this feat.

JK Rowling

Another supporter since birth, JK Rowling supports the club through family and has stayed loyal to the North London side. The author behind the Harry Potter series claims to be a Spurs fan although she does not follow the club as much as the stars before her in the list.

There was a wide debate as to whether it was Tottenham or West Ham that she supported, after the Irons were the only football club which featured in her Harry Potter novels. But she has since cleared any doubts, claiming her father was a Spurs fan and although she does not follow the team much, would go and watch a Tottenham game than a West Ham one.

Michael McIntyre

It is difficult to say how long Michael McIntyre has supported the Lilywhites for, but it is no secret that he is a proper football fan. The comedian is often spotted attending games, cheering the team on and even jumping on the floor in frustration when things do not go his team’s way.

McIntyre attended James Maddison’s charity golf day last year and spoke about how he believed Ange Postecoglou was ‘building’ for the future, and boy was he right with their recent Europa League triumph. Not sure how he would be feeling about his soon-after departure, however.

Emma Raducanu

The tennis sensation is also a well-known Tottenham fan. Whether she is straight off the court at Wimbledon or resting on the couch at home, she often has a Spurs shirt close. The 2021 US Open winner thoroughly enjoyed watching both Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son which helped in her decision to choose a team, with the former even mentoring her and advising Raducanu on her tennis career.

The former world no.10 chose Spurs after her whole team followed the Lilywhites and from there, she was influenced to follow the side from North London.

Lord Alan Sugar

Perhaps the most well-known Spurs fan on the list, even the ex-Chairman of the club, Lord Sugar’s love for Tottenham is no secret. Before being seen firing people in the boardroom, Lord Alan Sugar teamed up with Terry Venables to purchase Tottenham Hotspur in 1991. They held onto the club for 10 years, with Lord Sugar’s most memorable moment being when they signed Jurgen Klinsmann.

Although they were not in a wonderful place when Lord Sugar left, without him they may have gone bankrupt if it wasn’t for him. He sold the last of his shares in 2007 and has been fronting The Apprentice for the last two decades.

John Cena

Known most for his antics in the squared circle, John Cena is also known for his love of the Spurs. After being invisible for 17 years, Cena would have been overjoyed to see Tottenham finally win another major honour in May.

He has followed the team for a number of years, being present at a match in 2008 when the WWE were on a tour of the UK. The 16-time World Champion is now trying pave his way into Hollywood after stepping back from the wrestling scene.

Mark Wahlberg

Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg also joins our list of a proper Spurs fan. He was previously pictured wearing a Tottenham shirt and has also been trash-talking Arsenal in the past.

He featured in a picture alongside Ledley King, Dele Alli and Michel Vorm back in 2016 and has followed them ever since, also sending a message to England stars Alli and Kane ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Tom Holland

Known for being a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, Tom Holland also shares the same love for Tottenham as everyone else above him here. The Marvel star was said to have been inspired by Spurs’ Champions League run in 2019, which attracted Holland to become a supporter.

He has been an avid fan ever since and is frequently on social media giving his opinions on Spurs and is known for his love for both Kane and Son. He always shows eagerness to learn more about the team and is certainly never too busy to find out the score!
