Fulham 2025/26 Season Preview

Detailed Fulham Season Preview: Insights and Predictions

Where Did Fulham Finish Last Season?

With a solid 2024/25 showing that saw them claim 11th place, Fulham will be pleased with their progress since promotion back to the top flight in 2022. Though they haven’t set the world on fire with their performances, manager Marco Silva has transformed the west London side into a talented unit with excellent players in both defence and attack.

The Cottagers were admirably consistent across last season - they moved into the top half with a win over Newcastle in gameweek five, and wouldn’t drop into the bottom half until gameweek 33 with a defeat to Aston Villa, as they ran out of puff in the final stages of the season. Even more impressively, their campaign included a win over Chelsea, a double over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, and even an action packed 3-2 win over eventual champions Liverpool, which showcased their ability to compete with the finest sides in the world.

Boasting a talented attack from which goals can flow from anyone from Raul Jimenez to Adama Traore, and a defensive lineup that sides chasing Europa League football would be envious of, Fulham are on the right track. It may be a year too early to start thinking about a realistic push for continental football, but expect to see more shock results go down at Craven Cottage in the new season.

Best Result: Fulham 3-2 Liverpool (Sessegnon 23’, Iwobi 32’, Muniz 37’; Mac Allister 14’, Diaz 72’)

Worst Result: Fulham 1-4 Wolves (Iwobi 20’; Cunha 31’, 87’, J. Gomes 53’, Guedes 90+5’)

Who is Fulham’s Manager for 2025/26?

Don’t be surprised to see a new name here before the season starts. After an excellent season in which he achieved an 11th placed finish, FA Cup quarter final and the clubs highest points total of the Premier League era (54), Marco Silva has rapidly become a man in demand.

It is understandable - though they are on an upward trend, Fulham are still quite a way behind their more illustrious continental competing rivals, and it would be much easier for the Portuguese coach to jump ship to a side already at that level than spending years developing a club looking to reach that demographic, all the while fully aware of the possibility that he and his side may never get there.

However, it appears as though Silva is at least preparing to start the new season at Craven Cottage. He has already publicly stated he will “be there” for the 2025/26 campaign, and reportedly turned down an offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal. Moreover, he was linked with the Spurs job, but in the end Daniel Levy opted to hire Thomas Frank instead, shutting down another exit avenue.

But when all is said and done, Silva is an intelligent manager worthy of a title winning side, and whether Fulham like it or not, there will come a day in the not too distant future when the Cottagers will have to wave goodbye to their man in the dugout. That is why it is so important for fans to enjoy this era while it lasts.

Who is Fulham’s Player to Watch?

Antonee Robinson

As a defender, barring a few notable exceptions, your job is very much to sit back and protect your own goal, forgoing the goal contributions and subsequent recognition your teammates are met with down the other end. However, this is not so for American left back Antonee Robinson.

After a stellar 2023/24 season saw him set up six goals for his side, Robinson found another level to his game, and at the end of last season was sat joint fourth in the assist rankings, with 10. The fact he was the only defender in the 15 makes this all the more impressive, a testament to his calm demeanour and precision of pass in the final third.

A fine defender at the back too, Robinson has become a staple of this Fulham side - the third longest serving player in the squad behind Harrison Reed and Tom Cairney, Robinson is a natural choice for club captain, and with the armband on he leads with a cool head and great maturity, the traits of a player competing at the very top of his game. While sporadically linked with a move away, there has never been any concrete interest in his signature, which will be music to the Fulham faithful’s ears.

Fulham 2025/26 Season Prediction

Spending just over half a million pounds in the summer transfer window, and remarkably seeing even less than that come into the club through player sales, Marco Silva has begun to grow impatient, labelling his sides transfer strategy as "too passive". With the Cottager's bringing in only 34-year-old goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte as backup to Bernd Leno, it is hard not to agree with him.

However, their lack of investment this summer may not end up to be so bad after all - it provides an extra season for the clubs existing players to bond and gel, becoming a more cohesive unit in the process, while it also allows Silva an opportunity to further pin-point areas for improvement for when the next transfer window rolls around. By releasing the ageing Willian and the under-performing Carlos Vinicius, their trimmed-down squad now has the look of a side that requires just a couple of young signings to provide some extra drive.

While the lack of signings this season means they will not be particularly competitive, they still have the talent to secure safety comfortably, and perhaps in January, Marco Silva will finally bite the bullet and bring in some upgrades. Until then though, it will be a steady but unspectacular season for the Cottagers.
