How Many Goals Does Ronaldo Have?
As of the 7th of July, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a career total of 938 goals, which is the highest number of goals ever scored by one player. Ronaldo has placed all focus onto chasing the illustrious 1000 career goals milestone, as we all know that the Portuguese international will do everything in his power to achieve that landmark. But how has the striker got so close to an unprecedented achievement?
Ronaldo scored a total of five goals in 31 appearances for Sporting CP, which is by far the lowest number of goals he has netted at a single club. The former Sporting CP player scored three times in Liga Portugal and twice in the Taça de Portugal. At 17 years, eight months and three days, the teenage superstar bagged a brace in a 3-0 win for the Portuguese club over Moreirense. He had shown the world right from the start of his career that he was destined for greatness, explaining why Manchester United signed the winger at just 18-years-old.

The former Manchester United player scored 145 goals in 346 appearances for the Red Devils over two different spells with the club. His first of which saw him score 118 goals in 293 matches, in a period where he began to mature and develop into a world class player.
The global giants didn’t waste any time on snapping up the signature of Ronaldo, with the Red Devils breaking the English record at the time for signing a teenager with a £12m fee in 2003. A lot of pressure and expectation was associated with a price tag like that, but it doesn’t get any bigger than having the extra weight of wearing the number seven shirt at Manchester United. But we all know by now that the Portuguese international delivers best under pressure.
In typical Ronaldo behaviour, he scored his first goal for United in spectacular fashion as he fired a free-kick from 25-yards out past the legendary goalkeeper Shaka Hislop. He scored his 100th and 800th career goals whilst with the Manchester based side, with goals against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal respectively.
In August 2021 Manchester United re-signed their former player for £12.85m, who scored two goals on his second debut for the club against Newcastle United. His most memorable moments in his second stint with United were in the Champions League, where he scored numerous last gasp goals to rescue the team from defeat or even win games.

The club where Ronaldo was at his peak in his career was unsurprisingly the place where he scored the most goals. 450 goals in 438 games for Real Madrid. That fact alone tells you everything you need to know about the Madrid icon, with his ruthless and prolific finishing leaving defences helpless for seasons on end.
Ronaldo joined Los Blancos aged 24 in 2009 for a world record fee at the time of £80m. And boy did he live up to all the hype and expectation thrown his way, becoming the clubs all-time leading goal scorer as well as having the most goals scored by a Real Madrid player in a single season with 61. He is also the all-time leading Champions League goal scorer with 140 goals amongst countless other achievements. His debut season in La Liga saw him score 33 goals in 35 games in a smooth transition from the Premier League. The 40-year-old scored the bulk of his goals with Real Madrid, netting his 200th, 300th, 400th, 500th and 600th career goals whilst with Los Blancos.

The Italian based club signed Ronaldo in 2018 for £88.3m and scored 101 goals in 134 appearances for Juventus. The Portuguese legend continued to break records, as he equalled Giuseppe Signori’s Serie A record of scoring at least one goal in nine consecutive away games. He also became the first ever player to win league titles in England, Spain and Italy.
His goal scoring records don’t stop there, as he became the first player to net 50 goals in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A. His time with the Italian outfit was engulfed with countless goal scoring accomplishments that cemented the fact he could play at the highest level in the best leagues in Europe.

In December 2022 Ronaldo joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr on a free transfer. However he received the highest salary in football, earning just under £170m per year with football, commercial and sponsorship deals accumulating to make the jaw-dropping figure.
He has scored 93 goals in 105 matches for the club, but that number looks set to increase as the 40-year-old has signed a new two-year contract extension with the team. Ronaldo is estimated to earn £492m over this period, as well as taking 15% ownership of the club. It’s fair to say the Saudi outfit will expect the striker to perform, which is certainly what he has done so far.
The Al-Nassr forward netted 35 goals in a single season, setting a record for the highest number of goals scored in the Saudi Pro League in one campaign. He has also been the league's top goal scorer for the last two seasons, as he looks to hone in on 1000 career goals.

Ronaldo has scored 138 goals in 221 appearances for Portugal, with that figure only going to increase as the forward still spearheads the Portuguese attack. He broke the record for the highest number of international goals when he scored a brace in Portugal’s World Cup qualifier match against the Republic of Ireland in September 2021.
The 40-year-old has also scored in 22 consecutive years for his national team, a feat that is unmatched in footballing history. Ronaldo has scored his 700th and 900th career goals whilst playing for Portugal, netting against Ukraine and Croatia respectively. The footballing icon is also the all-time European Championships top scorer with 14 goals, having participated in six Euros. Despite not holding the record for being the highest scorer in the World Cup, he is the only player to score in five World Cup competitions. It’s these sorts of records that make him the greatest goal scorer the world has ever seen, as he consistently year after year puts up world class numbers.
