The new Premier League season is just around the corner, with just over a week to go until the first round of fixtures in what promises to be one of the most interesting seasons in recent memory.

With big new signings, new managers and clubs who have not tasted top flight action in a long time all taking part, the 26/27 season is set to be one to remember, but with the opening game just days away, what are the fixtures taking place on the first gameweek, and how can they be watched?

Friday 21st August

Arsenal vs Coventry City

The champions begin their defence of their crown at home on Friday 21st August in front of the watching world, as Arsenal kick-off not only their new campaign but also the league campagin entirely.

Their opponents on the opening night are Frank Lampard's Coventry City, who will take to top flight action for the first time since the 2000/2001 season after winning the EFL Championship title last season.

The midlands side of course face a tough challenge to gain points on the opening night of the season at Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal favourites to claim a second consecutive title following last season's success, and will look to get off to the perfect start in front of their fans.

The following day, the first weekend of the season kicks off with the first Saturday midday fixture with another newly promoted side taking on one of the Premier League's 'big six' as Hull City host Manchester United.

Michael Carrick, now having been given the permanent position of Manchester United manager, will want to prove himself in the Old Trafford dugout following on from a strong period in charge last season which saw the former midfielder guide the Red Devils to a third place finish and a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Hull, who got promoted after a late winner at Wembley in the playoff final vs Middlesbrough, and are in the division for the first time since 2017. And the MKM stadium will be full of highly anticipating fans hoping for a shock result in their first game back in the big time.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Everton start the new campaign at home after a poor end to the previous season, which saw their hopeful charge for European football in the first year at their new home ground fall into a bottom-half finish, with scepticism over David Moyes' position in charge rumbling throughout sections of Evertonians.

Their visitors on the opening day will be Crystal Palace, who are under new management in Frenchman Pierre Sage following Oliver Glasner's departure after winning the Eagles the 25/26 UEFA Conference League, which will see the club compete in the UEFA Europa League this season.

Sage's side were defeated at the hill Dickinson Stadium last season thanks to last minute goal by loanee Jack Grealish, who has not yet returned to the club despite interest in Everton bringing him back on a permanent basis.

Like two other fixtures taking place at the same time, Everton vs Crystal Palace will not be shown live on tv in the UK due to the Saturday 3pm blackout, which will once more be in place for the 26/27 season, but will be shown overseas for viewers abroad.

Ipswich Town vs Sunderland

Ipswich Town will be the last of the three teams promoted from the EFL Championship to begin their 26/27 Premier League adventure, as Portman Road welcomes the Tractor Boys back in the top flight after returning at the first time of asking.

Kieran Mckenna however is not at the wheel after leaving the club following earning promotion, with former AFC Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil tasked with keeping Ipswich in the Premier League.

They face the surprise package of last season, with Regis Le Bris' Sunderland finishing an icredible 7th place on their return to the top flight, and will take part in UEFA Europa League football this time out.

Again, this fixture will not be shown on television in the UK, but can be watched abroad.

Nottingham Forest vs Leeds United

Despite a turbulent season on and off the pitch for Nottingham Forest last time out, the City Ground side managed to retain their Premier League status. However, Vitor Pereira was still removed from his position as manager, replaced by Oliver Glasner.

Glasner is an eye-catching appointment, mainly due to the fact the Austrian was rumoured with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and AC Milan.

Leeds meanwhile had perhaps the opposite 25/26 season to Forest, and impressed with a solid 14th place finish and a comfortable survival under Daniel Farke, with optimism over an even better season this time around brewing at Elland Road.

Once more, this fixture will not be shown live in the UK.

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur

The first London Derby of the new season sees West London and the Gtech Community Stadium as the venue as Brentford host Roberto de Zerbi's Tottenham.

A disastrous campagin ended with relief for the Lilywhites as Spurs narrowly escaped an unprecedented relegation to the EFL Championship on the final day with victory over Everton.

Brentford meanwhile defied many views and predictions of fans and pundits alike with new rookie manager Keith Andrews, with the Bees finishing the top half in ninth.

Whilst Spurs will be hoping for a much better campagin, Brentford will be happy for a similar 26/27 season to the one they enjoyed in 25/26.

The first Super Sunday of the season kicks off on the south coast as the Amex Stadium is visited by UEFA Europa League winners Aston Villa as they take on Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls are set to embark on a European adventure or the second time in the club's history, as an 8th place finish in the previous campagin was enough to secure a place in the UEFA Conference League playoff round.

This match promises to be a strong clash between two good teams, with result potentially going either way.

Manchester City vs AFC Bournemouth

The Pep Guardiola era at Manchester City is over, and in his place is the man who once sat besides the legendary Catalan coach, Enzo Maresca.

And the Italian's reign begins versus the opposition which saw City's title hopes swept away in AFC Bournemouth, who begin new life under Marco Rose following the departure of Andoni Iraola to Liverpool.

Marseca's mission this season will be to try and reclaim the title, with Marseca desperate to get off to a strong start.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool

Perhaps the headline clash from the opening weekend, Newcastle have had another summer to forget so far, with a similar story to the last with key players leaving and transfer targets failing to be convinced to move to St. James Park.

Liverpool meanwhile will be hoping for a better season than last, that saw the champions, despite heavy investment, slip four places in the table to fifth, and Arne Slot lose his job as head coach.

Now, after poaching Iraola from Bournemouth, the Reds will be hoping to mount a proper title challenge to attempt to dethrone Arsenal.

Monday 24th August

Fulham vs Chelsea

shutterstock_2356450611 (1) (1).jpg

The first Monday Night Football of the season is a West London Derby as Fulham host Chelsea at Craven Cottage, with both teams heading into the clash with new managers, and managers that found themselves coaching Real Madrid last season.

Alvaro Arbeloa is in the Fulham hot seat, after Marco Silva's quietly impressive time in charge came to an end with the Portuguese accepting the job at SL Benfica, with Xabi Alonso, Arbeloa's predecessor at the Santiago Bernabeu, the new face of the Stamford Bridge dugout.

Both will be eager to get one over the over, especially with high expectations on Alonso and his Chelsea side this season.
