Are There Any Premier League Teams Having A GREAT Transfer Window?!

The new 2026/27 Premier League season is just two weeks away, as in 14 days the champions Arsenal will welcome newly promoted Coventry City to Emirates Stadium on the evening of August 21st as a new campagin in the top flight of English football begins.

But with little time remaining until top flight stadiums across the country become filled with fans once more, it seems that much of the transfer business throughout the league has been more subdued than perhaps expected, despite big deals taking place such as Elliot Anderson's £116 million move to Manchester City and Sandro Tonali leaving Newcastle for Tottenham in a £100 million move. But are there any clubs who have done the majority of their required business at this stage?

Looking at the biggest clubs in the division, there has of course been big business already done. Enzo Maresca and Manchester City have of course spend big on Anderson, but aside from the English midfielder no other main additions have come through the door at the Ethiad Stadium. And alarm bells will be ringing over the potential sale of Rodri to FC Barcelona.

As for Arsenal, the Gunners have completed the signing of Greek winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, who hit an outstanding 22 goals and 29 assists for the Belgian side last season, and are set to announce the £75 million signing of Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraẽs in what is a strong addition to their already impressive midfield ranks.

However, Mikel Arteta's team are still strongly in need of an elite -level attacking signing, particularly for the left-side, and time will tell who they will look to target after the blow of Vinicius Junior's decision to renew at Real Madrid, and with the clock ticking ahead of the beginning of the new season things may need to move fast if Arsenal want to get off to a strong start to their title defence.

Manchester United and Aston Villa have been in joint business together, with Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans leaving the UEFA Europa League champions for Old Trafford, who have been keen to refresh their midfield following the departure of Casemiro, with Andre Santos also joining the Red Devils from Chelsea. Although United are currently on the lookout for one more midfield addition as they look for another fresh start under Michael Carrick, with frustration building towards co-owners INEOS.

Villa have been busy in the midfield area themselves, Joao Gomes has been brought in from relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers as Tielemans' expected replacement, whilst the highly-rated 20-year old Johan Manzambi has joined for £60 million after a breakthrough FIFA World Cup tournament.

However, the £117 million sale of Morgan Rogers leaves a big gap of quality in the Villa attack, with Chelsea's Alejandro Garnacho being signed on an initial loan, but more may be needed if Villa are to once more fight towards the top end of the table.

Liverpool meanwhile have been quiet so far, much to the frustration of the Anfield support after a disappointing campaign which saw Arne Slot fired and Andoni Iraola brought in ahead of the forthcoming season. The Reds have signed Osasuna winger Victor Munoz in a £34 million, but supporters are demanding more to bolster a thin squad and with the outgoing of club legend Mohamed Salah needing addressing, with negotiations for PSG's Bradley Barcola currently ongoing.

What about Chelsea? Well the Blues have been busy once more, and have perhaps had the most accomplished transfer window across the league so far. he big money signing of Rogers from under the noses of Arsenal will bolster their attack under new boss Xabi Alonso, whilst Maxence Lacroix is a suitable addition to the backline especially if Alonso decides to play his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation at Stamford Bridge.

Up north at Newcastle United, this summer so far can be considered nothing short of a disaster. In a similar story to last summer's transfer window, the Magpies have seen much of their main targets go elsewhere. With Victor Munoz and Manzambi key targets and both reportedly close to signing on Tyneside, but both deals ended up being hijacked by other clubs, and much of the squad's main stars have departed, with Tonali and Antony Gordon gone, and captain Guimares soon to be confirmed as an Arsenal player.

Alongside that, manager Eddie Howe has also left the club. And whilst Bazoumana Toure is a strong signing for the wings, and new blood in goal in the form of Lukas Hornicek is good, Newcastle's squad is considerably weaker than at the start of the window, with many fans heading into the new season full of uncertaintly and worry for the campagin ahead.

As for Tottenham, no one could debate that heavy business was required, and Roberto de Zerbi has been busy. Over £180 million has been spend on refreshing the midfield, with Tonali and Mateus Fernandes each being signed in big money moves, whilst centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke has joined from Brighton alongside Andy Robertson and Marco Senesi on free transfers.

Spurs have no doubt had a solid transfer window as they look to push themselves back up the table, but just like many others more is needed, particularly in attacking areas to boost their firepower.

What About The Newly Promoted Teams?

Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City are the new faces joining up with English football's elite for the 26/27 season, with both Coventry and Hull having had extended absences from the top flight.

The Sky Blues won the EFL Championship title under Chelsea legend Frank Lampard last season, finishing with an impressive total of 95 points, as Lampard returned Coventry to the Premier League for the first time in over 25 years.

That said, just like any other newly promoted side, investment into the squad to boost it's quality ahead of the step-up in level was required. Although despite that, perhaps the most important deal that could have been done by Coventry is for a player that helped them get promoted, as goalkeeper Carl Rushworth has signed from Brighton on a permanent basis after his initial loan last season which saw him collect the division's golden glove award with 17 clean sheets.

Alongside Rushworth's return, defender Aurèle Amenda has been signed from Eintracht Frankfurt has been signed in order to bring more top flight experience to the defence, whilst winger Loum Tchaouna has joined the club in a record move of £22 million from Burnley. Midfielder Frank Onyeka has also signed for the Sky Blues from Brentford, bringing much-needed Premier League experience to the side.

Ipswich will be hoping to complete the task they failed to do two seasons ago, and survive in the Premier League. Kieran Mckenna is no longer in the dugout however, with former Wolves and Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil tasked with keeping the Tractor Boys in the top flight.

The Suffolk side have been one of the busiest in the market, making nine signings totalling to over £100 million.

Brazilian striker Emersonn is the most expensive at £26 million, the 22 year-old signs from French club Toulouse and scored seven Ligue 1 goals last season. The Brazilian isn't the only player brought in to strengthen the Ipswich attack however, with Abdul Fatawu and Daizan Maeda signed from Leicester City and Celtic respectively for a combined £33 million to bring energy, pace and potentially goals to the Ipswich attack.

As for Hull City, the Tigers face the toughest challenge to survive in the Premier League, as they enter the top flight with a squad many did not expect to end the 25/26 season with promotion.

However as of now, only £13 million has been spent on new signings. Young midfielder Jens Hjertø-Dahl has joined the club from Norwegian side Tromsø for a fee said to be around £10 million, with the 20-year-old is an exciting prospect.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland has returned to English football from Scottish giants Rangers for £3 million as the TIgers new goalkeeper, however more will be needed for Hull to have a chance at survival, with Aston Villa's Leon Bailey rumoured to be close to joining.

Overall, there can be no doubt that strong business has been done throughout the league, but many clubs are still very much in need of more additions as standard fees in the market continues to grow, clubs could soon find themselves priced out of their main targets or forced to overpay in the latter stages of the window.
