On Wednesday evening, Ismaila Sarr scored one of the goals of the tournament so far in the Round of 32 match between Senegal and Belgium. The goal was the second of the game which gave Senegal a larger lead over the Red Devils. Defender Moussa Niakhate played a long ball over the top from well in his own half, which Sarr controlled brilliantly on his chest before powering a right footed finish past goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Sensational!

Harry Kane vs DR Congo

A few hours prior to Sarr’s stunning goal, Harry Kane scored quite the goal himself to help save England from embarrassment. England saw themselves go one nil down very early in the game against DR Congo, and it wasn’t until an equaliser through Harry Kane with fifteen minutes remaining that the fans could take a bit of a breath. Kane then picked the ball up outside the box with just four minutes remaining and he held off multiple defenders and smashed the ball past goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi-Nzau and into the roof of the net. Unstoppable!

Antonio Nusa vs Ivory Coast

This goal also came in the Round of 32 as Norway took on Ivory Coast. Antonio Nusa scored the opener for Norway in a game which they won 2-1 with the help of a late winner from Erling Haaland. However, it was Nusa who stole the headlines with his goal. The 21-year-old did his trademark cut inside onto his right boot before bending a ridiculous finish into the top right corner giving the goalkeeper no chance. The goal had an xG of 0.02!

Lionel Messi vs Algeria

Lionel Messi has certainly shown that age is just a number when it comes to his performances so far at this World Cup, with the 38-year-old sitting top of the goalscoring charts. However, his first of the six so far was certainly his best as it was a vintage Messi goal. The little magician picked up the ball in a pocket of space before turning and dribbling towards the edge of the box and unleashing a venomous strike into the top corner out of the reach of Luca Zidane.

Kylian Mbappe vs Senegal

Kylian Mbappe is currently joint with Lionel Messi in the race for the golden boot this summer with six goals. However, the one that is his standout was actually a history making goal as it took him ahead of Olivier Giroud as France’s all time top scorer. It came very late in the game where Mbappe picked the ball up in a deep position before turning and striking a powerful effort into the top corner to become a record breaker.
