It May Be Too Early... But Are Spurs Condemned?

After West Ham smashed Wolves at home 4-0, Tottenham have dropped into the relegation zone! They are still facing off against Sunderland away in this weekends set of fixtures however no fixture is looking like a win for Spurs right now.

As we are coming into the business end of the season, the question is, are Spurs really going to get relegated?

West Ham Are Flying

Let’s start with West Ham, because they are the complete opposite right now.

That 4-0 win over Wolves was not a one-off.

They have been building towards this. Wins in recent weeks, goals flowing, confidence high… they look like a team that knows exactly what they are doing. Going forward they are dangerous, defensively they have tightened up, and most importantly, they are getting results.

That is what matters at this stage of the season.

Players like Bowen are stepping up, they are getting goals from multiple areas, and they are putting teams away when they get on top. That Wolves game summed it up perfectly. Ruthless, clinical, no messing about.

Compare that to Spurs…

It is night and day. West Ham look like a side pushing up the table, Spurs look like a team in freefall.

Spurs Just Cannot Buy a Result

It is hard to even know where to start with Tottenham.

They are not just losing games, they are losing them badly. Heavy defeats, late collapses, mistakes all over the pitch. There is no consistency, no confidence, and no real sign of things improving.

Even when they do have decent spells in games, they cannot sustain it.

Heads drop far too easily. You can see it in the players. One goal goes in and suddenly everything falls apart. Defensively they look all over the place, going forward they are relying on moments rather than structure.

And now?

They are in the relegation zone. That is not a joke anymore, that is the reality.

This is where it gets even worse for Spurs.

Look at what they have coming up.

Trips away from home, games against sides fighting for Europe, teams that are in form… there are no easy fixtures. Even the “winnable” games do not feel winnable based on how they are playing right now.

Sunderland away this weekend is a perfect example.

On paper, you might say Spurs should win that. But with the way they are performing? It is anything but guaranteed. In fact, you would probably back Sunderland based on current form.

And that is a scary place to be.

When you compare the two, it becomes even clearer.

West Ham’s remaining fixtures are not easy either, but the difference is they have momentum. They are picking up points, playing with confidence, and look capable of beating anyone on their day.

Spurs do not have that.

Every game feels like a struggle, every opponent looks dangerous, and there is no sign of a turnaround. Even if the fixtures were kind, you would still question whether they could take advantage of them.

Right now, it feels like they need something drastic to change their season, and fast. They will be really hoping that De Zerbi can spike some passion into their side, however it is not a simple task.

Can De Zerbi really have this big an impact this quick?

So... Are They Down?

It might still be early to say it for certain.

But if things continue like this… It is hard to see a way out.

They need wins, simple as that. Not performances, not “positives”, actual results. And they need them now. Because every week that goes by, the pressure increases, the belief drops, and the gap becomes harder to close.

Right now, West Ham are looking like the team who will be safe. Spurs look in serious trouble.

And if nothing changes soon, this could go from “surely not”… To a complete disaster. Especially if Spurs lose against Sunderland, it will be crisis mode in London!
